My 17 yr.old nephew who has epileptic seizures will be visiting WDW this July. Although I'm sure he will ask his doctor if there is anything he should avoid, I was wondering if anyone had any info about rides that can possibly trigger a seizure? Do you know of anyone with seizure disorders that has difficulty in the parks?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hey there neighbor...I should say old neighbor... I was born & raised in Yonkers! As far as your nephew.... I use to get seizures when I was young also (was in the Montifuri Hospital for it) ...out grew them by end of high school... many moons ago... I can tell you one thing... Buzz Lightyear will do a number on him. There is one part of Buzz where you go thru a room that looks like a tunnel due to the lighting & the lights will make it look like it is spinning. I now have vertigo (same triggers as seizures) and everytime I get off that ride I don' t feel very well & I walk like I am drunk... I have learned to close my eyes in that part. There is also a section like that in Space Mountian as well.... it is a tunnel & lights flash as you go thru it... I need to shut my eyes at that part... Yet I can go on a roller coaster that loops & corkscrews and as long as I keep my eyes fouced straight ahead, I am fine... it is only the lights that get me... and that is what did it when I was younger also..... also the tea cups get my eyes going too... that is all I can think of in the MK. In Epcot, the Countries that show the 360 degree screen movies get me...and stay FAR AWAY from Mission Space!!!! In MGM...RnR doesn't bother me, neither does ToT.... I can't think of anything in AK that bothers me... I hope this has helped you.
PS... been out of Yonkers since 1989...went to Danybury Ct then to sunny FLA in 1991 and staying for good:sunny:

A Mickeyfan, thanks so much for posting. The nephew I'm writing about actually lives in Yonkers :) , I guess it really is a "small world";) . He gets treated for it at a hospital in Yonkers, I think St. Josephs

I'm glad to hear you outgrew your seizures. I hope my nephew will too. He started getting them a few years ago but he's been during pretty well on his medication. I'm also very familiar with the Montefiore hospital. It's the hospital everyone in my family goes too.

Thank you again for responding. I tend to worry too much and it helps to be reassured that he'll be able to have a good time and hopefully be safe too.
