Segway Tours

Saw a few people on Segways last time we were at Epcot and thought they looked fun! So I'm interested to know particulars . . .

How long are the tours? Are they only in Epcot?
When do they start and are they on particular days of the week? (we'll be there Jan 14-19)
What do you see and are you given any latitude to roam?
and finally. . . did you enjoy using the Segway or was it difficult to master?

Currently there are two Segway tours in Epcot per day. Each tour can accomodate 10 people. The first tour is 8:30am-10:30am with a check-in time of 8:15am and the second tour is 9:30am-11:30am with a check-in time of 9:15am. The first hour is instructional in a classroom in Innoventions in Future World and the second hour is for touring World Showcase. The tour is $80 per person but sometimes 15-20% discounts are available (AP, DVC). While touring World Showcase, you are allowed "some" freedom. When other guests are walking around they want you stay in a single file. They will also take pictures of you if you bring your camera.

The time in WS isn't really roaming freely. It's more like "Follow the Leader". The group is led by a tour guide and the Segway instructor for your tour brings up the rear, watching for problems, stragglers and what our instructor called "hot dogs" (people who are getting too fast, wild or are otherwise not in control.
As GoodFairies mentioned, during the times when you are in open guest areas, you are asked to ride single file. When you get to the not-yet-open-for-the-day areas of WS, you don't need to be single file, but you still are following the tour guide thru the area.
During the classroom training time, you get pretty comfortable on the Segways and they are not that hard to drive.
