Hi I just got back from being at Disney last week. I did the segway tour and it was a blast. You first meet at GR over by Space Ship earth. Then you walk over to Innoventions and go into a room. You first pick out you helmet and get to watch a very very short film about safety. then one of the tour guides explains how they work. To go forward you push down with your toes, if you lean forward you will go too fast. To go backwards you push down with your heels. On the handle bar (left side) the is a little ring that you turn to go either right of left. To stop basically you have to find the happy medium between forward and back. The hardest part is trying to stand still. You will have to constanly keep moving you feet forward and backwards, but it is not hard. after they teach you how to control the segway they have you go around in a circle, then stop. turn around and go the other way. They will have you weave in and out of cones on the floor. Their is a ramp in the room and they teach you how to go up the ramp and then down the ramp.
after they feel everyone can handle this you will be taken out in a sinle file over the WS at the Mexico side. Here they will lead you into the different countries and through the different areas. Ex: Germany, up the walkway and down where the trains are. When you get to China they have a roped off area where you can ride and do what you want, or get off for a short rest. In this area they will take pictures of you, (you have to bring your own camera). There is a place on the segway to put a camera or purse. After this you finish up the countries and head back to innvenation throiugh the people. after the tour they give you a pin you can only get by taking the tour.
I am not athletic and also a senior, and as I told everyone, If I could do it, anyone can do. Don't be afraid go and have fun. We loved it so much when we go to WDW in Nov we are going to do it again. Once you calm down it all clicks in.
