Hi y'all... I am thinking of doing the Segway Tour with my sister next month during our DLR trip.. It looks like a fun trip thru DCA.

Has anyone done this tour?? In your opinion, is it worth the $$$?

Any and all opions would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you in advance :)

I took it a couple of years ago and it was great fun! I thought it was worth it. You do Segway training for about an hour, and then they take you on a tour of the park. They gave us about 15 minutes of free time in the Paradise Pier area between Maliboomer and California Screamin', where we could traverse the queues on the Segways or slalom around posts and trash cans - that was fun. This year, with all of the construction going on around Paradise Bay I'm not sure if that will change the tour at all - the area we had for our free time should still be open, so I'd think it would be about the same.

Thanks for your review!!! It looks like fun and it will be nice (even with all of the construction walls up) to go thru an empty park.

I don't know what effect, if any, all the DCA construction may have had on the tour, but I had a blast when I did it a year and a half ago!

Since the tourguides tried to make it "informative" (with little tidbits of Disney & California history), I imagine now they might talk about the future plans for DCA. But you don't do this tour to be educated. It's really all about racing around the deserted park on a Segway. :woohoo:

It is worth it! That is one of the best special things we have ever done at DL.
I saved $20 per person with my AP discount, so $79 was even better than $99 but it is a must do!
The department head of tours took the tour with us to check on one of his new guides and I told him it would be GREAT if they had the same tour for DL. He said they couldn't do it because DL opens so much earlier than DCA they would have to start the tour at 5am.

With the Segway tour you meet at the letter C on the esplanade at 6am, they give you a little briefing on how how to use the segway, watch a video and eat a muffin. You get about 45 minutes of training and practice on the Segway over by Monsters Inc and then you're on your way.

You also get a special segway tour pin. So great!!

Thanks for the comments and link to the DIS thread... I am really looking forward to doing this!

I want to do this so much...DBF would LOVE it!!!!! Anyone know how last minute you could book it? I'd hate to book it and then we can't make it, change our minds or whatever.....

Great question, also interested.

That's a good question... I guess it depends on how many spaces were open for your chosen day. In case you don't have it here is the number for the Tour information/reservations. (714) 781-4400
fyi the earliest you can book is 30 days prior.

It really does depend on how many spaces are available when you go to book it. If they've booked the maximum number already, you'll be out of luck.

It was pretty "last minute" when I decided to do the tour. I only booked it the afternoon before.

We still talk about this tour, it really was a highlight of our stay. Great fun zipping around the closed park and hearing all types of insider tidbits. You also get a cute pin with a moving segway on it.
I was a little aprehensive to start with but it's really easy to get the hang of. The only downside is that you aren't allowed to take any photo's whilst on the segways.

Thanks everyone, I think I'll wait since we don't know if we are going next weekend or not yet. I can't do it when we go with the kids, they aren't old enough but if we go next weekend I might book it for Sunday morning. :)

We just did this tour this week for the second time...we brought friends this time. You can get a Disney Visa discount as well...brings the cost down to $79. I have done this now pre construction and now during construction and the tour is the same the only difference is they use to take pictures of just your group but this time they took one shot of everyone together. Each person still gets their own copy but kind of strange to have a shot like this with strangers. It is great fun!

We changed our reservation pretty last minute in Jan 2008 due to rain predictions. We were a party of 6 adults and no one else was on our tour with us. :cloud9: Great tour our family had a blast (ages 21 - 51).

I can't wait until my kids are old enough to do this. I wish my mom and I had gone together on the last trip. It sounds so cool. I haven't heard anything negative about it (aside from the early 6A time!)

Do you know if there are any health restrictions? I have a bad hip/back, but would love to do this!
