Segway (sp) tour at Epcot??????

Hi all,

I have a question about the Segway (sp) tour. My hubby really wants to do this, so my question is geared for the people who have done this.

My hubby is very tall 6'3" and weights 270. He does not look fat because he is so tall. But, he does go over the weight limit. Not sure how much he goes over, but he does go over. Do they have any special Segways (sp) that he could ride for the tour, or is his heart going to get broken? My hubby really never wants to do a lot, but this really caught his eye.

I surprised my DH, DS, and DD last year with the Segway tour on our Christmas trip to WDW. I have a bad back and leg so couldn't do it myself. I did get to sit in on the instructional part of the tour. All of the segways are the same size. I know there is a weight limit of 250, but they didn't do anything to reinforce this. By this I mean they don't embarass anyone by weighing them. I do remember seeing a couple of people that looked pretty close to the limit if not a little over. I really don't think your DH's height would play a part in him enjoying the tour. As for his weight again they won't check, so if he is comfortable about doing the tour I would go for it. We have been to WDW many times and I had been looking for something new for my family to do. The tour was such a big hit with them. They had such a good time. They loved going through World Showcase before it opened. They still talk about it and would love to do it again.

Don't bet on them not turning him away. And remember, you will have gone past the cancellation date and could lose your payment for the tour. Disney sets their restrictions for a reason (his safety, their liability).

This is what I have been waiting to hear....someone who is actually over the weight, and was allowed to ride. My hubby is about 270...and although we are working on bringing that down a little, I will not be surprised if that doesn't happen. I was hoping he could get on anyway...without breaking the machine! How much over the weight was your hubby?

I called 407-wdw-tour. They gave me the number to the guy who actually gives the tour. I left a message with him. Crossing my fingers for hubby.....

Weight limit for this is 250lbs

Do you mean two people riding on one Segway? If so, that's not physically possible. There is only room for one person...unless someone rode on another person's shoulders and I don't think Disney is going to allow that!

I used to own a Segway and called disney to see if I could ride it around the park (especially EPCOT) and they said no way jose.

I saw the EPCOT tour and it may be fun for someone who never rode one, but they limit the speed and turing settings for safety.

I am anxious to hear if you get a response from WDW. My husband is right at about 250 and I'm nervous he could be 5 or 10 lbs. above by the time we go. Trying to diet, but you know how that goes sometimes. I would really like to surprise him with this!!

My DH is just at the wait limit. We did this last April and it was great. We booked it early in our trip (so he would not put on any weight - from those mickey bars)

They did not weigh him,but I've heard in other posts here that sometimes they do weigh the people.

His segway went slower than mine, maybe do to the weight

I did the segway tour in Epcot last week and I would suspect there were people in my group who were near to or over the limit. No one was weighed though and the weight was not mentioned really exept in the safety video. I guess if you are a few pounds over that would be OK but I suspect a lot over that the segway might not run. I heard once though that Disney set the limit to 250lb whilst the actual limit set by Segway for those models is a bit higher than that.
I hope you get to do the tour, we had so much fun doing it.
