Hi all. You may remember us, we had the crazy idea of segmenting:

Day 1: DDxP
Day 2: DDP
Day 3: none
Day 4: DDxP
Day 5: DDP
Day 6: none
Day 7: DDxP
Day 8: DDP
Day 9: none

and really wished it would go smoothly. Well it did!!! Totally, completely, even with switching resorts & without having to go to the lobby to get new cards each day! :cool1:

Not a hitch, not one issue that wasn't rectified in under 15 minutes, everyone at both AKV - Jambo House & BLT, along with each restaurant we ate at, were totally helpful & understood what we had planned. The only "blip" was transferring from AKV to BLT - they warned us that w/o being checked into a resort the dining plan might not work & that we should just charge our meal & they would reimburse us which they did.

As for getting new room keys, @ AK we needed to get keys each morning unless it was a no DP day. At BLT we did not need to go down each morning, they OFFERED to drop off new keys each morning & we took advantage of that.

As for credits - we got all we paid for & the snack credits did carry over past the "midnight of check out day". Can't speak for the QS or TS b/c we used them all before "midnight of check out day". .

As for mousekeeping, not a hiccup. We got it when it was due to us. Our trip had each day segmented & there was not a single mousekeeping issue.

So ask away. We were VERY happy we did this & will totally do it again!

Told you not to worry ;) really pleased it worked out for you. We have a 2 week segmented DDP commencing 28Aug and can't wait

So glad to hear this. So just a quick question when you have one of the DDP's for a day the credits start that morning and carry until midnight the next day correct. Just making sure they are available longer than 24 hours

Yes, they were good from the moment we received our cards & didn't expire until Midnight the next day. FYI - for us the snack credits never expired.

Question..... Did you have any meals before your room was ready? The only problem I foresee for us is we are arriving early and plan to have probably before our room will be available. Do you have access to your ddp credits?

No, we did not eat before our room was ready. However we were checked in so I do not think it would have been a problem. We checked in at 9:30AM, room was ready by noon, but I did get a print out of what credits were for that day & it showed DDxP credits so I assume they would have been good to use.

Once you check in and get your cards you should have access to your credits. We checked in at BLT around noon, had lunch at Kona Cafe at 1, and the room was not ready until about 2:30. No problem.

Good to know! Very glad for you that it worked out well. We did something similar in May and we spent alot of time waiting in the restaurants for them to call our hotel. Definitely wasn't worth the time that we wasted. Our next trip we are just going to do the reg DDP for the whole time.

I am happy to hear that all worked out for you . We just booked a last minute trip and will have to switch resorts each night. I am excited to visit each resort but DH is worried that there is too much involved, any advice on how to make our stay run smoothly? Our best friends are DVC owners and we got married in Disney last Jan. I am so close to convincing DH to purchase DVC club I want to make sure he has a good time. This is our first trip alone in 10 years without the 6 kids. Any advice would be appreciated. :grouphug:

Hi Dreamwedding - the segmenting I was talking about was the dining plan not resort switching, although we did switch once. How many days is your trip? How do you plan on doing the dining plan?

I have a segmenting dining question - MS is about to close so I am going to ask you all here. :goodvibes

If I already have a 4 night reservation - I can't call and get segmented dining now, can I? Last time I did it was last year and at that time, the reservations had to be split and they would only do that if inventory was available at the resort at the time. So, can I call now and add dining for some days of our stay? Or has that not changed?

But you don't get your cards until your room is ready, right? How do they handle the dining plan if your room isn't ready and you don't have your cards yet ? Thanks in advance.

No, you get your KTTW cards when you check in. They just don't tell you your room number but you have the cards and access to the plan prior to it being ready.

Thanks so much, put my mind at ease. We have lunch planned for noon since we're getting there super early and I was worried we'd have to go through the hassle of charging to the room and getting reimbursed.

You can call and segment a reservation that you currently have in place. They no longer need to have "inventory" available to split the reservation into segments based on your dining plan choices. If you call and get someone that tells you it's based on inventory or that you might lose the reservation, just ask for a supervisor to assist or call back. We segmented a 2011 Spring Break trip and my initial request to segment was declined since I was told I would have needed to have asked to have split the reservation when I made it (split an eight night stay at the same resort when I made it in April 2010??:confused3 really??)

Of course I knew better based on posts on this board, so I just sent an email with my request and it was successfully segmented the next day. I don't think you need to go the email route now since this option has been available for some time now...so most reps should be up to speed. Good luck:thumbsup2

So glad to hear this all worked out for you. We have a similar trip planned in Jan. And i hope things go this well for us!
