Segmenting reservation issues when onsite?

We would like to add the DDP to two nights out of six. We do not have a split reservation at this time. If I call back to add this, am I in danger of losing my reservation?

We did not plan to use DDP, but prices for some meals have gone up significantly (Boma dinner is $39!) so it might make sense for us to do the plan for our meals out.

I think if you didn't "segment" your reservation you may be in jeopardy of losing your reservation. What I did was call MS and see if there was availability for the dates I wanted to make changes to. If there's availability for your dates and room types you should be OK. For me there wasn't availability for 1 of the 3 nights so I told MS that I wasn't willing to risk it. Since it was for a trip that was to be our first trip as members the CM decided to see if she could sprinkle a little pixie dust on us. She put me on hold and spoke to her manager. Came back and asked if I could hold a little longer. I said yes. She then returned about 10 minutes later and told me everything was fixed to how I wanted it:woohoo: Sometimes you get a cast member who is willing to go the extra mile and sometimes you aren't so lucky. They don't have to see if there is something they can do but it's nice when you find that special CM who wants to help make your trip magical:littleangel:

I think this is what others have reported - it seems to depend on getting a manager to make it work. I will proceed with caution, as our reservation is for BLT standard view and so is likely to have a waitlist. I wish they would just make this a regular procedure, and not make us rely on finding a CM who feels like going the extra mile. Thanks for the answer.

I would at the very least call and see if there is any availablity for your dates. You might be surprised to find there is availablity or you might just find the special CM:littleangel:

It never hurts to try:)

I segmented a few weeks ago and decided to do it by sending MS an email through the member site.

I explained what I wanted and made it clear that I only wanted it done if I could not lose either of my rooms (split stay between BW view at BWV and SV at BLT).

I heard back in 2 days and they said it was all set. It was easy and I didn't have to deal wtih CM's who may or may not know what they were doing or, who may not want to do it.

Good luck!

We had a reservation last month segmented. Our experience was that we had the same key for the entire stay. In the PP was in the cards, just had to be sure to use our credits for the right day you bought it. I'm interested in that too. MS tells me I have to check every day of my stay.

I am interested in this as well.

Our next trip is not until July 2012, so we have over 6 months until we will be booking it, but DH and I are trying to figure out what we want to do with dining plans and a segmented reservation. In July 2010, I upgraded my ticket to an AP and we bought the TIW card. This worked out nicely, as costs of food plus upgrading, plus cost of the TIW card added up to about $200 less than we would have paid for the deluxe dining plan for 10 nights. But with being able to purchase it for a portion of the stay and stretch out the credits, it changes everything.

Ideally, if we could get the basic DDP the first night, then switch to deluxe DDP for a few nights, then one day without a dining plan, then deluxe plan for a few more nights, that would be the most economical at this point. But the question is...is it worth keeping track and checking in and out 4 times throughout our stay? I'm picturing myself going to the desk to get new KTTWs, the computer being down, the whole process taking over an hour, and losing precious park time (we're rope droppers).

So...it just may be worth a little extra money to upgrade myself to an AP once again and buy the TIW card, to avoid the headache and worry. We shall see.
