It might be a close call, but as a PP pointed out, your dining plans are a "perfect match" for just using the regular DDP (w/out segmenting) for your whole stay...it all depends on how much you'd spend at Citrico's...
Generally, using DDP for signature (2-credit) meals isn't a great use of the DDP...you pretty much have to get the most expensive item on the menu (or close to it) AND want dessert to realize any savings...but in this case, you may save a bit (depending on your food choices) and you'd definitely save yourself some hassle factor...
Here's some math for you to consider:
If you think your Ctricos orders--drink plus entree plus dessert--will total $46 (or more) per person, it makes sense to not bother segmenting and just go w/the DDP-
A quick look at the current Citricos dinner menu shows entrees ranging from $23 to $46 ...desserts are $8-$9 each--no prices are shown for soft drinks...but if memory serves, they're around $4...
So, if you figure you'll get the least expensive item on the menu (seared tofu for $23), each meal will be $37 (give or take). But you say your kids like steak...the steak/beef choices are $38-$42, so that meal would be $51-$55...
Keep in mind that
DVC stays on points do not carry a seasonal surcharge--I presume you're staying at DVC on points, since you posted on the DVC forum, but if not, you need to factor in whether the surcharge applies during your dates ...
So...it could cost you $9-$10/person to use DDP if you think you'll order seared tofu and an $8 dessert...if, however, you think you'll choose the short ribs or salmon or veal shank or pork or filet of beef or snapper, and a $9 dessert, you'll save from $5 to $9 per person...
Somehow, I'm thinking a family of teenagers who like their beef is probably not going to order five seared tofu meals...but maybe the chicken breast would tempt you...that's $29--add in $9 for dessert and $4 for a soft drink and that totals $42...so the DDP would cost you $4/person more than paying OOP...if all of you order the chicken, that is.
Another complicating factor: will you order dessert? (You'll pay OOP for appetizers either way)...if not, that's $8 to $9/person that you wouldn't pay that is part of the DDP cost...
So, there's your math...
On the one extreme...seared tofu, w/no dessert--your DDP cost is $46 per person, your OOP cost is $27 per person...times five people, that's a savings of $95 to pay OOP...on the other extreme, if you order five veal shank meals (the most expensive choice), at $46/person, and get a $9 dessert, you save $13/person, or $65.
(Keep in mind these are not total costs, either under the DDP or OOP...appetizers cost extra and you also have to pay the tip w/DDP; for OOP you also have to add in tax)...
Next question: is a total of $65 (likely the maximum savings of paying for Citricos OOP rather than just using your DDP w/out segmenting) worth the hassle factor of segmenting? At a minimum you need to go to the front desk on the day you segment to get new room keys. That could be quick and easy, or it could take some time--the luck of the draw in terms of lines, CM skill level, and "the mood of the computer" that day. You may or may not run into issues when you go to use your DDP the day after you segmented out of it.
Hope this helps...
