my son will be born in october and my family is planning a trip to WDW when he will be just over a year old . i myself have been to WDW many times throughout my childhood but never with a child younger then 6 so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on places/attractions to visit in the parks that would spark his intrest, or just any advice in general from other parents that have taken their young ones around that age. thank you in advance for any help and advice. :)

We took our kids, 3 and just turned 1, last year and we had a great time. We took my son on everything without a height restriction. He had a great time on everything. He wasn't too keen on sitting through 3d movies, but that's just because he didn't want to sit still. We had an amazing time with our kids.

I started taking my daughter at 3 years old! She has an amazing time! I never felt any limitations at all! WDW is for all kids and imho, unless they are infants, they will all have a magical time!

Took our daughter for the first time at five months. The Baby Care Centers are very nice. The Baby Swap works great for rides you will not want to take him on. The characters are great with babies! Go and have a wonderful time!!!

You can take him on anything without height restrictions. I would not suggest going on, snow whites scary adventures (this terrifies some), Its tuff to be a bug (huge mistake on my part, Dh convinced me it would be ok), honey I shrunk the audience (this scared the pants off my little guy, I had to take him out, after this he was afraid of anything that started in the dark! dont know why I listend to DH again:rolleyes: ), Stitch's great escape, Maelstrom scared my son but some toddlers are ok on it.

The unofficial guide also states these rides as frightning for little ones. Also you know your son and some of the rides not listed here can be loud and frighten some preschoolers. Fantasmic! was scary for my son because it was so loud. POC also frightened my son so use you be the judge but remember that if he becomes too afraid it may deter him from wanting to go on anything and even things he loved before going on said scary ride will make him cry and not want to be there (you live and learn:rolleyes: . next time I will not listen to DH when I know I am right!)

You will have fun, I took my son last year at one and he LOVED it. We had so much fun and are going back again this year. I would not worry too much

I took my daughter when she was 14 months old, and she rode everything that we did that did not have height restrictions and was fine. We didn't do 3D movies or anything that required her to sit for a long time unless it was her nap time (she actually slept throught the Lights, Motorcars, and Action Show which is very loud! :confused3 ). She loved parades, and she loved the characters as long as they didn't get too close! She really enjoyed the Voyage of the Little Mermaid at MGM and the Dumbo-type rides as well as the Carousel. We had a great time! I didn't think she really understood what was going on, but now that we are home every time she sees Mickey or other Disney characters anywhere she points to them and gets excited! We rented a double stroller (we had my 5yo nephew with us) and had blankets and we found that this was very convenient because she had plenty of room to nap if she got tired (she still took morning naps). Also, we got to the parks when they opened were able to get back to our hotel by her afternoon nap so she could rest and this worked well for us. I was unsure before we went about her being so young, but I am SO glad that we went, we had a wonderful time.
