I'm pretty sure this has been discussed on the dis boards before, but every once in awhile, I start seeing these little white specs. It usually starts in one eye, and then the other eye, shortly thereafter. It lasts for about 30 minutes in each eye, and then it goes away.

I believe some have said that this is something that one gets right before having a migraine, but mine never develop into migraines, or even a headache.

I'm seeing the specs right now in my right eye, so thought I would ask if others have experienced this.

Google "Ocular Migraine" Often times, they are totally pain free. I've had about 3 or 4 of them in my life and the worst I've felt is some tension in my neck/shoulder.

It could be lots of things. I wouldn't self diagnose.

I've had this symptom from migraines, I also had them when my blood pressure was high and my brain was swelling during pregnancy. I do still get them from time to time and it always happens when I turn my neck hard and cut off flow to my carotid arteries. I get all sorts of ocular migraines and mine never ever have anything to do with pain, my Neurologist told me that in many people the visual kind happen in place of the painful kind... I don't like either.

In the end you should really be seen, migraines are diagnosed by process of elimination. Once everything else under the sun is ruled out you end up with a diagnosis of migraine. It really shouldn't be a starting point though because migraine type issues are neurological and can be dangerous if improperly diagnosed. Dr's are so quick to dismiss migraine that I have instructed my entire family that if I ever end up in the ER with something neurological to not even tell the staff I get migraines because they shove us off into a room and forget about us because they like to think we are all drug addicts.

If you have a parent with migraine that is probably the most likely diagnosis, especially if someone in the family has visual ones. What would make me skeptical is if you don't have a long history of them, its kind of unusual for stuff like this to just pop up out of the blue. If you are older or if visual migraines are new don't make any assumptions.

I would see an eye doctor about it if I were you. It's probably nothing, but on the off chance that it could be a symptom of something serious, you want to know sooner rather than later.

I would, at the least check my blood pressure.

I used to have them when I was little, though, and I know my blood pressure was fine, then. :confused3

I don't think I've seen them in years.

BTW, I thought your post said "Seeing white species." I thought maybe more albino animals had been turning up lately, or something. :)
