Seedlings - near disaster!

I have three large flats of seedlings in my southern facing window... I use a reflector to ensure they get enough quality light without having to use grow lights. The zinnias that are in these flats are doing marvelous ... large and stocky, excellent color, and I was commenting to DH this morning as I rotated them (so they don't grow one direction only)... how well they were all looking.

I removed the reflector shield and then took one of the flats into the kitchen to add more water to the water tray... when one of my kitties decided he wanted to sit in the windowsill.. jumped up and tipped the wooden board I have them sitting on over. (the board makes the windowsill ledge wider so the trays fit okay). Over went two of the trays onto the wood dining room floor... one of them UPSIDE DOWN!!! AAAACHKKKKK!!!! Poor little babies!

The one tray that landed upside down seems to be bouncing back (thank goodness!). Man I was swearing up a blue streak at that poor cat! What a mess too!

I seemed to do a LOT of swearing yesterday! LOL! Started out with the seedling incident... then progressed to a comedy of events helping my DD feed the neighbors geese and llamas. All turned out okay... but DD heard a few too many choice words from me this weekend. I need to clean up my act!

At least you can swear at your kitty with a clear conscience. My 3 year old dumped my seed tray of veggies on the living room floor this weekend. I was able to salvage all but 2 spinach starts. I'm feeling like a horrible mother too because I was upset with him and now today his is sick with the flu. My poor baby!

And this is why I don't do seedlings! LOL!

Sorry there were two seedling mishaps this weekend. Must be something in the air in Washington State!

Ya know, I thought I saw a blue streak on the western horizon!

This is why when I do seeds I do them in the laundry room and keep the door SHUT....4 kitties would certainly be gardening when my back was turned!

I hope you were able to save most, if not all of your babies!

Well... just thought I would follow up and let you all know that EVERY SINGLE one of the plants not only survived this incident... but are continueing to FLOURISH!! If I think of it ... I will take a pic of them tomorrow and post it.

Glad to hear the plants survived.

Don't have cats anymore, but know this problem well. My DD Mary bought her Sister a beautiful Bonsai for her Birthday. Her cat decided she liked this tree and proceeded to eat it. It's now at my house. Got a good pruning.
