Just wondering if anyone saw the Space Shuttle launch from WDW last week. We were riding a bus to MK, and saw it out the window - it was really awesome and added something special to our trip. Just wondering if anyone else was awed like I was?
We were on a bus back to Port Orleans FQ. The bus driver, Jeff, pulled off the road so we could watch it out the window. It was spectacular! BTW if you ever ride with Jeff, be prepared to sing and laugh yourself silly. The ride from MGM to PORFQ was so much fun I forgot I was standin' on my tired sore feet!
I was waiting for it on a bench in World Showcase, right near the gondola in Italy. A Cast Member announced when it went up and every one watched and cheered. It was really neat to see.
We saw it back in July. We were in the LMA Theater waiting for the show to begin and all of a sudden everyone started cheering. It was a great view from the theater. Definitely a trip highlight for us!
The wife and I were walking on the sidewalk near Peco Bill when we saw everyone near us stopped in their tracks, staring slack-jawed into the night sky over Cinderella Castle. At first, I wondered if it was fireworks... the wife said, "I don't think Tinkerbell can fly that high." Only after a minute did someone say, "That's the Space Shuttle, ya idiot!"
It was clear enough to see the booster separation... very cool capper to the best trip ever.
We saw it while waiting at the bus stop at MGM. At first I thought it was fireworks but then I realized what time it was. It was really an impressive sight.
We saw it from outside our hotel. I was expecting to see a small orange dot in the distance, boy were we shocked to see how large the "flame" was and it lit up the night sky as if it were daylight. My husband was on the phone back home watching on CNN and was telling me what the speed was and the distance from earth in real time which was really neat. (Can you believe it's going 1500 miles and hour now!?) It was so cool to see the solid rocket separation too. I got chills watching it, and it is a moment I'll never forget.
We saw it as we were getting off Test Track in EPCOT. It was a "once in a lifetime" experience. It was so cool, and other people told us that before we got there it was lighting up the sky with an orange hue. It looked like a big orange comet by the time we saw it.
My wife had the camera and thought she was taking pictures, when in reality she was taking video. It's a little shaky, but I will try to post it. BTW, we were wating for Illuminations to start
My entire family saw from Main Street at MK right near the Ice cream shop CM's were pointing there orange lights in that general direction we were wondering why at first and then we saw it in the nighttime sky really cool. This is my second shuttle launch I saw. One was during the day the other was at night.
I got you all beat. Just kidding!! We just got off of Mission Space and were standing directly in front of MS when the shuttle went up. So we went though shuttle training and then got to watch the REAL shuttle go up over the place that is dedicated to space travel!!! WOW that was cool!
