We are doing a trip out west this summer. Any suggestions for things to do at the listed placed. Thanks.

We just returned from Sedona, the Grand Canyon and LV yesterday. In Sedona, we rented mountain bikes, rented a Jeep Rubicon and drove it on the trails, and rented a TomCar and an ATV to also ride on the trails. In LV, we rented a 5 person dune buggy and drove it in the sand dunes. All of those activities were alot of fun.

We did this same trip about 2 years ago in August. We flew to Phoenix. Drove to Sedona and spent a week in a timeshare. While there we visited Slide Rock Park, Meteor Crater, the Petrified Forest, The Grand Canyon, Jerome as well areas in Sedona. We hiked, watched the sunset at the aiport and took a biplane ride over Sedona. This sounds like a lot, but it wasn't.

We then drove to Las Vegas and checked out the area. From there we drove to Seal Beach about a half hour from Anaheim. We visited Disney Land and went to the beach.

It was one of the best vacations we've ever taken. My kids want to go back soon.

Hope this helps.

We are thinking of doing this trip next summer. Subscribing to find some info. Tink, how long was your trip total? Wondering what the ideal length of time for this trip is. Been looking at the other Grand Canyon thread. Trying to talk my husband into this. He is all for it, depending on how much it will all cost!

It 13 days. But we flew from CT so 2 days traveling by air. We only spent one day at the Grand Canyon. Long enough for 2 kids. Would like to go back and spend more time.

We spent a week in Sedona, one day in Las Vegas, and the rest at Seal Beach. It seemed like a good length of time to accomplished what we wanted to.

Did the big cross country trip last summer, and loved it so much. We loved the Southwest Inn in Sedona! Pink Jeep tours are supposed to be great, but we didn't do one--DS would not have been able to go. Stayed at HoJo Anaheim, which was cheap and convenient for DL, but the Disney fireworks at night were really LOUD (just a tip if you have little ones). Check mousesavers for codes and deals.
My absolute favorite place we stayed on our 32 night trip was Kachina Lodge in Grand Canyon--2nd floor canyon view. If you can book this, it is worth every penny--it's about 180/night for the view of a lifetime. Have a great trip!

I agree!! I have stayed there twice, both times canyon view and there is nothing quite like it!!

We did this trip last October and it was great! Sedona was one of our favorites of the entire trip! While there, we rented our own jeep from Barlow's Jeep rental. My husband was thrilled to drive in that kind of environment and it was much, much cheaper than the Pink Jeep tours. They give you maps and good directions and we just did it on our own. It was one of those priceless memories that I will treasure forever ~ just the five of us!

Did you miss having a tour guide, or was there info available at Barlow or elsewhere? We are scheduled to rent a jeep for a half day.

I used to live in Arizona and LOVED any get away to Sedona. Couple things to check out:

Slide Rock - azstatepark dot org (In summer months this can close so check status)

Chapel of the Holy Cross - Very old church build in the Sedona Red Rocks.
I dreamed of getting married here.

Pink Jeep Tours - never did one but friends raved about them.

I don't know your budget, but a beautiful place to stay in Sedona is the
Briar Patch Inn.

Haven't been to the GC since I was six, so can't comment on that. I always wanted to hike into the Waterfalls of Havasupai. Not for kids and a difficult hike. You should look up the pictures - breathtaking!

Hope that helps! :)

Okay, I know it is $25 to get into Grand Canyon Park. Will Slide Rock be extra, or is that included in the National Park? Trying to get all the fees figured out. We are doing Sedona, Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, and maybe Antelope Canyon.

Thanks for all the help! :hippie:
