I know that our world has changed, so I was wondering what is the procedure for entering the theme parks?

Does every bag get checked? fannypack? diaper bag?

Do the CMs do the checking or can I empty everything to show them? (I hate when other people touch my baby's things!)

Is there long lines when the parks open?

I am curious to know what happens upon entering the parks.

Thanks for all your knowledge.

everyone carrying a bag has to go through a security checkpoint where all bacs are searched by WDW security

Yes, everything gets checked - diaper bags and fannypacks included. If your bag opens wide and isn't too packed with stuff they may not need to touch your things. But if they don't feel they can see into the bag well, they will very likely ask you to
pull stuff out for them. Didn't see too many of the CM's actually handling people's things but they did ask people to lift items up or take them out of the bag.

The bag checks are pretty fast. If you go ahead & pull the big items out to show them the bottom of the bag, you can get through pretty quickly.
It's really not bad, the security people try to keep it upbeat.
When they're finished I always say, "Thank you for checking". Maybe I'm naive, but I do feel safer for it.

Just be prepared. Have the entire contents of the bag readily visible. If it is really stuffed full-- then pull some things out right before it's your turn. They aren't going to go through and handle all the items. I know the last 2 times we were there-- they wanted to check every compartment of the bag. In addition, they were also checking bags inside of bags--- like make-up cases, camera bags, things like that. I don't mind personally, it's there job, and while I know many things could still slip through at least it is an attempt. Also, if you have big bulky items all folded/rolled up-- like blankets and sweatshirts- they may need to feel them, or else you'll need to unfold them. They may not be going to that extreme any more-- our last trip was during a heightened terror alert level this past winter.

I was thinking of packing stuff in ziplocks and then placing in the bigger tote. Does this sound reasonable? I thought if I could just pull out the clear bags it might expedite matters. If you did that then no one would be touching your baby things. Have a lovely trip!

Based on our recent experience Ziplocs should work just fine. Just have the bag open and ready to go and you'll have no problems. The security people all seemed very nice and considerate of your personal stuff ;)

A side, at Universal/IOA they also do bag checks and most security people had a stick (looked like a backscratcher) to use to move things around in the bags so they could see better.

If you are really concerned, watch for a minute before getting on line. I know this is a horrible thing to say but I went last week, (big backpack with 5 compartments) I had each unzipped when I got to the table. Sometimes, I went right through, lesss than 5 seconds, sometimes it took up to 4 minutes of emptying. I did learn each screen seemed consistently thorough or not but they all didn't use the same process.

Sorry, just stating my observations.
