Security Trick: ziplocks. Am I the only one?

It's a great idea. I usually don't bring a back pack, but I'll keep this in mind for when I do.

I do something similar when I fly. I pack everything in space bags and ziplocks. I had a note in my luggage when I flew home from Vancouver saying that my luggage was randomly searched and I could tell they didn't open any of my clear bags. It was really nice because in the past when my luggage was selected for additional searching, everything was thrown around and mixed up.

Holy cow, why didn't I think of this? Thank you OP! We're taking some small bags but it'll still be annoying to pull out tissues/napkins/handwipes/chapsticks.

Great idea! Thanks for the tips. We like freedom too, as someone mentioned, and found that we would start the week off with a backpack and end the week without one. So we've pretty much ditched the backpack. We have stroller age kiddos still and find that the snacks, diapers, etc. can just stay in the stroller and our phones, passes, and camera fit well in our pockets for safe keeping. This gallon ziplock idea would work great for throwing things in the bottom of the stroller. Just grab the whole bag of snacks out quickly without having to stoop over and look for the particular thing the kiddos want. I also like the suggestion someone had of a handful of diapers, etc. in one of the bags, would be convenient for changing the baby.
