In addition don’t take pictures of the line. Some of them are very territorial about that![]()
It may seem annoying but that's the idea. If everyone knew exactly what they were looking for, and had pictures/videos of the process it could pose a threat (similar to TSA.)Some will barely look in your bags, and others poke around like you've got an armory hidden in the side pocket, it just depends on who you get.
That only works at WDW, DL doesnt use CLEAR. Everything is hand checked. Old fashioned metal detectors, your stuff goes on the table. Maybe someday….although that trick didn’t work for me at WDW, still got checked every single time.Umbrellas and chargers held in front...but, why is this such a worry?![]()
if you are staying at an on site hotel, a 7:00 am arrival to security will likely mean that you will be far enough back at the main gate that you may not get the full EE rope drop benefit. As a general rule, if you want to be at or near the front of any rope drop plan on being in line for security by 6:30. Not sure how this will change on 1/20 and beyond with only one EE park for on site hotel guest and if they will go back to dedicated EE turnstiles.Afternoon,
What kind of tips can everyone offer for breezing through security to hit rope drop. We plan to be at security just after 7Am all days. Is there anything we can kind of be ready for to not be fumbling?
Make sure your bag and all inside pockets of the bag are open.
Take anything metal out of your pockets.
If you want to REALLY breeze through, don't bring a bag at all. This would be impossible for me, but my sister is one of those all-I-need-is-my-ID-and-a-credit card-in-my-pocket types. Or you bring only a purse. I always have a purse and a backpack, plus keeping an eye on my kids' bags going through security. It's alot of zippers lol.
Most of my fumbling is trying to close everything up again as I walk away from the security table.
This is me too. A wristlet carries everything I need and makes life a joy in the park as there is little to lose. The man wore cargo shorts which took care of umbrellas if needed.Make sure your bag and all inside pockets of the bag are open.

If you’re wearing a belt, remove it before you arrive at security and place it in your bag/backpack, if you’re carrying one. Sometimes I forget and I set off the metal detector. Then they have to search your entire body with a wand. What kind of tips can everyone offer for breezing through security to hit rope drop.
I've moved all of my glasses to soft sleeves because of this. Sometimes I get asked to open my 4"x5" wallet. Most of the time I don't get asked to open it.Hard-sided glasses case. At least half the times I forget to have it out and pre-opened I get a security screener who wants me to open it up and show him the inside.
