How safe are the resorts against armed intruders or bomb attacks ,etc?

seems like a difficult question to answer. i know of no reason to consider them any more or less safe than anywhere else in the real world.

While I cannot say how secure or not secure they are, I can say that I have had no reason to be concerned.

That said, I don't think you are going to get too much "Detailed" information on the "Security" practices at the resorts. Divulging that information is a sure fire way to make it more vulnerable.

As safe as they can be.

1) No where is perfectly safe as there will always be people looking for ways to get around security.
2) You are not going to get detailed information on security measures.
3) Don't worry about it and just be smart.

I feel confident they are doing everything possible-probably lightning rods are the only thing at WDW more prevalent than Security Cameras!

Funny... you don't even realize that until you start looking for them.... Go on the KTTK Tour and learn a lot about that and more.

Realistically, the resorts are crummy bomb/terror targets due to how they're constructed/spread out. To make significant damage requires a lot of effort, and if you are going to put that much effort (and resource) into an attack, you won't choose a Disney resort.

Physics tells us this.

Someone intent to do harm can. Nothing can change that. But you also shouldn't go around looking over your shoulder waiting for it either. That's no way to live life. Disney is as safe, and as vulnerable, as any public location is. You just have to go, have fun and not worry. It's fine.

I recognized the OP but I am still going to answer. I think that given the current situation around the World, others might want to discuss.

I believe that of all target to strike, a resort in Disney, other than the CR is probably not going to be an attractive target to someone intent on doing harm, however if I had to choose a place in which I felt that I was as safe as is possible, WDW resorts would be right up there. I agree with @AngiTN. I do my best to be aware of my surroundings, but other than that I am not going to worry.

Two main reasons for someone to attack with guns or bombs; idealism, like a terrorist, or something personal like a stilted lover or a recently fired employee.

Looking at the first, hotels, in general, and resorts in particular, are low yield targets for bombers. They spread people out and contain them in pretty well hardened structures with excellent fire protection. Same thing with a Mumbai style attack of gunmen. A terrorist would have to pass much better potential targets to settle on a WDW resort hotel. Rooms offer a barrier and the buildings offer cover for fleeing guests. Resort layouts make going room to room a chore. Emergency response to a Disney property in Florida is going to be lightning fast. I can't remember if every WDW resort does this but at least several of them have gate control for parking. So an attacker would have to be a ticketed guest. One could conceivably roll into downtown disney then take transportation to a hotel but ... that's a lot of rigmarole and again they would be passing better targets along the way. Omar Mateen, the gunman that shot up the Pulse nightclub had previously scouted Disney parks and Disney Springs. He planned his attack extensively and passed on the Disney locations. A disgruntled individual is a potential risk anywhere. There was a case of a jilted lover in 1992 at epcot and an estranged husband in 2000 at Boardwalk Inn. These are usually 'Black Swan' events and there is not much any particular place can do to prevent them.

It is one of those things that I wouldn't worry about. That is when the terrorists actually win. It isn't when they attack, it is the worrying all of the time that they might.

I agree. I realize that the times are different now in terms of how we view places we go, but that has become kind of normal for me now. There was a time when I was not really aware of my surroundings, but that has changed. I do not stop traveling or attending places that had crowds, etc, but I really do look around now. I make sure I take note of exits on trains and when I am in buildings, and I pay a little more attention.

This my view too. I try not to obsess over what MAY happen. Reality is, that if someone really wanted to attack an area... They could. Just using common sense and being aware of your surroundings will make things that much better for you and those around you.
