Day One is in the books and here are several of my observations:
1) Crowds - very busy but manageable. We didn't get to park until 4 and it seemed pretty packed at that time but then lightened up as the evening went on. Wait times were long for top attractions but we used Fastpass and that was still quick as before. With FP we rode RnR, ToT, and ST. Without FP we rode/watched Great Movie Ride (15 minute wait - sign said 30), Muppets, Launch Bay, Little Mermaid, Indiana Jones. We didn't wait for any of the shows/movies any longer than it was for the one before us to finish. (We have been during this time before so knew what to expect but I was still curious to know what the last year for the lights would do to the crowds - not horrible)
2) Osborne Lights - The lights were more crowded than I remember in the past but not as bad as when we watched them turn of for the first time in the evening. This year we saw them around 7:30. We had plenty of opportunity (time and space) to take pictures, observe the lights, and enjoy. Do make sure to watch the lights "dance" as that is the best part!
3) Food - On MDE it still showed Minn and Bill's Diner having the mac n cheese with pulled pork but the menu has changed! It is no longer available. Now there is a fried chicken meal and a sliced roast beef meal. Did not appeal to us so we went to Backlot Express and were satisfied with our meals there.
4) Security - No line at around 4 PM and went through quite quickly. Had a small bag that they checked. Another guy was off to the side by the metal detector with a wand and he just smiled and told us to have a nice day.
5) Buses ran fine and efficiently (At CSR)
All in all - a good day.
