Security on boat

As I understand it, our bags get left with the porter who brings them to the boat. Do ALL bags go through a strict security check before entering the boat? I am assuming it is just like the airports. Guess I'm gettin a little jumpy with all the talk of war and such.

Your checked bags go thru secruity machines (out of sight of you) and all your carryons also go through machines right inside the bottom floor of the terminal. Security is very strict at the port, with only people holding cruise documents allowed anywhere near the terminal.
