i just read off the MM thread that there are security stands. i havent been to DL in 10 years and i do NOT remember that being there. anyways, how longs it been there and what is the process of it? should you always line up there first?

There are security check points at the entrance to DLR from either DTD or Harbor.....just tents that are set up and you walk through, they search your bags and you move on.

Longest I've ever waited from start to finish is 5 minutes......HTH:thumbsup2

You have to line up there first, you cannot enter the esplanade until you've lined up and gone thru security. You can't miss them at all. It doesn't usually take long unless it's first thing in the morning, it's usually just a minute or two.

Just to add to what's been said, the security procedure was put into practice shortly after 9/11/2001 so if you haven't been there in 10 yrs that is why you don't remember it.

AHHHH thanks. i was thinkn it was NOT there when i was. i went in 1999. cant wait to get back on our yearly-bi yearly disney tradition!

You get through pretty quick. They are not really that efficient. They look in your bag and as long as you don't have a bong or something stabby or shooty they let you through.

Just something I noticed... not that I'm complaining.

Yeah like everyone has already said you have no choice but to go through the security check point. Check all the security entrances because there's usually one or two checkers that have a shorter line, for some reason people line up where they see more people :confused3. Be sure to have all your zippers and pockets open before it's your turn to help save time.

They don't really seem to check well, but when I went in March my 90 year old grandpa accidentally brought along a few of his bathroom goods inside his bag. He had about 10 disposable shaving razors inside a pouch which they sniffed out, the checker felt a little sorry for him and let him keep two but threw out the rest. We didn't want to pay $10 bucks?? for a locker for disposable razors.

The "security" checks are more to give the feeling of security then they are to really protect you.

well what kind of bags are allowed in the park then? i know when i went many many times, many years ago, lol, they didnt have any restrictions on what bags you can bring in. just wondering if they now do? if so what are they? i want to bring a fanny pack, and our camcorder case, and of course we need to bring in our diaper bag for our son who will be 22 months at the time. will they allow it all after checkin it?

This is correct....but if you're arriving BEFORE the security tents are manned....get in line (or start the line) AT the security tents.

Those who wandered into the esplanade (or started a line at the DL turnstile) will be chased back to the security tent (thus losing their place).

So if you're arriving super early to be first in a line (& security hasn't manned the tents)....get in line (or start the line) at the security tent....& you'll be first in line at the turnstile. :thumbsup2

Those bags will be fine. You can't bring in some giant rolling, hard sided cooler.
