Security Checks

No, they are not going to say anything. People are allowed to meet up in the rooms.

Keep in mind that people do exaggerate when writing reviews. You say, "these reviews say..." - do you mean several of the reviews mention this; CM unlocking the door, coming in, opening the bathroom door and walking out? Or did one review mention that happening? Did they have the latch on? Did the CM just walk in using the key without announcing themselves? Did this happen to several people leaving reviews?

I've stayed at Disney resorts five times (values two of those times) since they started this policy; never once did a CM use the key and open the door. They always knock and announce themselves. Always. Most of the time they check the room during the day when we are in the parks.

They are not looking for people having dinner together in their room. If you are in the room and A CM knocks you can ask them to return later. As others had said, you can use the latch. If they just unlock the door and try to walk in unannounced that will stop them.
Multiple people say they have that the cast members come and check their bathrooms.

I don't mind unless they fail to wear gloves or a mask and touch stuff in the room. I wouldn't want to catch COVID because an employee was sloppy and failed to follow sanitation COVID safety protocols. Unfortunately I wouldn't know when or if they did enter the room. So I guess I would have to disinfect every surface every time I came back to the room.
The checks are quick. They’ll flip on the lights so they can see. So maybe just disinfect the light switches if you’re concerned.

Wearing gloves means they need to change gloves between every room since the gloves become contaminated once they enter the room.

Honestly if I were that worried, I would not be traveling anywhere. There is taking precautions and there is going to extremes.

Including me. I was asking about the specifics; cast member unlocked the door and came in, introduced themselves, opened the closed bathroom door, and then walked out.

I don't believe that has ever happened. No cast member would just unlock the door and enter the room. People exaggerate when leaving reviews so I was curious if you read several reviews where people said that happened.

The CM's do check the bathroom - they don't open a closed bathroom door and look in. They really try to do the room check when no one is in the room. Sometimes that isn't possible so they are very courteous and respectful.

But since you are concerned that cast members will unlock the door and come in you should always use the latch when you are in the room. That will give you piece of mind.

I agree with Dug720; this is not a good time for you to travel.

There are hundreds of touch points in a hotel room and all around the parks and transportation. I'd say it's guaranteed there will be some sloppiness and failures to follow sanitation protocols.

It says that resort employees can enter your room whenever.
This is true for any hotel anywhere.

So if both parties want to meet up in my room and have dinner together, are they going to say anything?
Not at all, they likely wouldn't even know. And if they did, its not an issue.

According to the reviews on trip advisor, they can come in the middle of the night, in the early morning, while you are in the bathroom...
Its very easy to latch the top lock on the room door to prevent someone from entering while you're in the bathroom or in underwear or whatever. I highly doubt they are coming in before 8am or after 9 or 10pm, and for the people who do not opt out of housekeeping, the housekeeper's service is in lieu of a separate security check.

FWIW, we were at CBR last week and never encountered a security check. Its entirely possible they came while we were out, but we were in the room for a few hours in the afternoon each day and nothing. We did opt to receive housekeeping, but that only consisted of replacing towels and removing trash every other day. Just makes me wonder if the checks are scaled back in the current environment due to limited capacity and limited staff.

Arrived 10/31. Went to park yesterday. Came back and noticed in our 1 bdrm at Riviera that an empty brown paper bag was gone, the one vanity they tidied up the bathroom items, and made our bed. Not my daughter's bed. Had I known we'd lysol the fixtures again & the toiletry items. It doesn't make me feel safe.

That sounds more like housekeeping than security.

We've never been in the room for a security check (we generally leave the room in the morning and don't come back until the evening). I do put out the room occupied sign and use all the door latches when we're in the room and nobody has ever knocked.

We did notice a light left on one day of our last trip on a day we didn't get housekeeping, so I'm assuming someone came in for a security check when we were gone.

On my September trip I would always turn out the lights before I left the room. When I returned the lights were on.

Not at Disney, but I had a nice chain hotel maintenance guy knock and then walk right in—with me sitting on the toilet with the door open! So you can think that’s never happened, but I think you’re wrong. Everybody who posts something negative isn’t a liar.

Yes, I meant I don't believe it has never happened at a Disney resort. So I asked for clarification to see if I was wrong.

You know I never said everybody who posts something negative is a liar - I said people exaggerate when posting reviews.

I've upset you. I apologize. With your past experience I understand why this policy at Disney World concerns you.

Another thing I do, if staying at a value or moderate with outdoor corridors is leave the curtains open so they can see in any time they want to without coming in. I always unpack and put away, so there’s nothing out in view but sodas and snacks. I don’t know if that helps, but I haven’t had any issues with security checks yet (knocking on wood). I also do not decline housekeeping.
