security check

Planning an early Feb 2012 trip and have a couple of questions. We will be staying at Portofino Bay. Where is the security check for resort guests? I read that the main one is in the parking structure. Is that for everyone? And if we do not bring bags, is there a separate line to get in? How does it work?

When we stayed at the Royal Pacific they looked in our bags when we got on to the boat. It was pretty cursory and I'm not sure how they would have checked anything had we walked over.

Bag checks are done before you get on the boat, at the entrance to the parks(Hard Rock Portofino at the end of the walk way)/city walk(RPR) and at all the turnstiles.

when you use the walking path from rph to the park, there is a security check halfway into walking that path.

if you are at hrh and walk, the security check is at the end of the sidewalk.

Unlike Disney, if you are staying at an on-site hotel at Universal, there are not huge lines for bag check. If you take the boat, there really isn't a line at all. Ditto if you walk.

The only time you save is on those rides that don't allow you to take bags on so you have to put them in lockers.

They got rid of the back check at the turnstiles when they moved them to the parking structure, etc.
