Alot of people are talking about the Security Cameras in London England. They are supose to be helping in the war against terror and crime.

How would you like to have a security camera recording and monitoring the activities on the street that you live on? It could keep track of the goings on in your neighborhood and help in the war against crime and terror right in your backyard.

Though it would also help officals monitor when you are home, when you come and go, who visits your home, who your friends are, what hours you keep, how often you mow the lawn, etc.

So, would you like a security camera on your street?

My life is an open book.. I'm a law-abiding citizen.. Wouldn't bother me in the least..

As long as they pave the road and install street lights and cable while they are at it would be fine with me.

No way. I'm highly against the "big brother" mode.

The village I live in will be installing them on public streets/areas this fall. Mainly the downtown district, but also they will be installed at the Rec Center as well.

Some people are crying civil liberties, but when I remind them about the 10K in vandalism we've had this summer alone at the Rec Center, they seem to change their tune.

Wouldn't bother me in the least. I'm not doing anything that I need to hide.

Wouldn't bother me one bit. They can do whatever it is they'd like if it might possibly protect me and my family from terrorism.

Hell no. I hate the direction we are going in this country with the errosion of our freedoms. Much like those orwelian traffic light cameras. Horrible!

They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security-Ben Franklin

Like you, I dislike the erosion of our freedoms, BUT it's becoming evident that private citizens are no longer in a position to protect their homes and families as they could in the days of Ben Franklin. *Most* of us need some help and if that requires "Big Brother" to step in and assist, I'm all for it. Bring it on! :sunny:

I'd rather have an armed populace. (and I don't even own a gun)

That's part of the problem. People don't know how to take care of themselves anymore because they've been too brainwashed to think "big brother" should do it for them. Meanwhile, all "big brother" is doing is taking away your freedoms and rights one at a time.

The government is here to serve us, we are not here to serve the government. Sadly, we seem to have forgotten that.

Not armed here either but DH and I both agree with you on that one! ::yes::

Oh and to those of you who say "I'm not doing anything wrong so I don't mind", I answer to that.

You're not doing anything wrong... yet. Someday a freedom or right you may enjoy may be taken from you - something as simple as reading your Bible. Because you love reading your Bible so, you might be forced to do so undercover. But remember the cameras you didn't mind them installing!!!!

amen :worship:

I would not mind that in the least! Would certainly cut down on even the little punks that slash tires along with bigger things....

And do you honestly think by saying, "You know what? I don't like that idea!" you're going to stop them???? I really doubt it.. It's never stopped them before and I don't see it stopping them in the future..

John F Kennedy said:
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you-- ask what you can do for your country.

The constitution states that one of the main goals of the government is to protect the public. You see this all the time via street signs, traffic lights, mandates on safe public and private transportation, safe water standards, etc...

I'd like to know what freedom would be infringed upon by the installation of cameras in public locations? Is there an inherent sense of privacy via your comings and goings while in public? I don't think so.

I think it's quite a leap to say that this could lead to them stopping you from reading your Bible.
