security/camcorder????

We just purchased a new camcorder that we will be taking w/ us. Do I just carry it on w/ me? I dont think putting it w/ my checked luggage will be a good idea. Are any of the security measures harmful to the camcorder/battery? Could the xray machines damage it? Thanks.

I would put the camcorder in a carry on. I don't pack anything of great value because I'm afraid my luggage will get lost, which it has in the past, but thankfully the longest was 4 days.

The x-rays that they use for airport security are not strong enough to be harmful to the camcorder or battery. I had this concern as well, but DBF is a professional photographer and told me it was fine, so we've gone through with cameras and a camcorder in the past without any problems or damages.
