I promised to report how security was at MCO on the first week of the extra TSA agents. I was there around 7 AM.

I flew out of the A side and the lines weren't too bad. The B side was terrible!!! It was the longest I had ever seen. Lots of pages while sitting at the gate from the airlines. I have the feeling lots of people missed their flights.

So if they added extra security it didn't help any.

That's absolutely terrible and from the other boards that I read there needs to be some great improvement because people show up 2 hours before their filght and still miss it due to TSA. Heres a question for you. Do they still have the elite line?? If so that would be a good reason to fly more:)

There is a DL elite line BUT.... you have to get past the ID checkers to get put in it and that is where the LONGEST part of your line is.. So it's really no help. (Plus they keep filling it up with everyone else so it's not much help)

The only think I have found that helps is paying the $80 to join Clear...

Are all the airlines still observing a flat tire rule even with Priceline ticket holders?

Do airlines fly the checked baggage without the passenger aboard?

If the A side security line is really long you can use the B side in the same general area if that line is shorter. (And vice versa).

The problem with the "flat tire rule" is that the PLANES are FULL. I flew out on Thursday. The flight was PACKED and the standby list had to have 50 people on it. They will put you on "standby" if you miss your flight.. That's not much help if every flight is full.

Keep in mind that you must go through the security gate on YOUR side of the airport. I think it's gates 70 -129 on one side (the DL and SW side which means they are the busiest as these are the two MAJOR players at MCO) and the 1-69 on the the other side. That said, if the lines on the DL side of the terminal 70-99 are long don't forget to check the SW side and vice versa. Just don't go over the moving sidewalks to the other end of the airport..

OK, what side are the Southwest Airlines gates??A or B. Slow side or better side? Thanks Ron & BB

PS: We leave the first of June to WDW!!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :sunny: :wizard:

The Slow side.

Southwest is on the A side. Today A wasn't nearly as bad as B. It sure wasn't the improvement they said they had made.

I felt bad for all those waiting in line and there were people at the ticket counter who were supposed to be on a flight in half an hour and I know they missed their flights.

By wife and I are both Delta Elite (Silver), plus I'm a Crown Room Club member and we've never been put in a special line at MCO. Where is this special elite line?

Once you FINALLY get to the ID checker you have to ASK.. (I usually had to repeat the question as they choose to ignore it the first time.) You will then be directed to the line IF it is open. (Don't count on it, since MCO is not well run)

My experience has been it may save you about 10 minutes. (if you are lucky)

I don't know about MCO, but I do know in Atlanta the elite line is reserved for Gold and up and Crown Room Club members so you would qualify here.. However, just being Silver may not qualify you..

Thanks, I'll try that next month. I know in BOS, SM isn't supposed to qualify but it usually works for my wife. Of course, the CRC on mine does qualify so I've had no problems.

We flew from MCO yesterday, Side B security. It took us about 10 minutes to get through security at around 9 a.m. on a Monday morning. They had plenty of lanes open, and it looked like you could switch sides from the A to the B.

I am glad to hear that but I wouldn't count on it always being like that. I fly out on Fridays and there are always long lines.

Around 4:55 and arrived at 3:30 and had NO problem on the A side! :thumbsup2 I guess I will stick with Southwest! ;)

Flew out of MCO on 5/18 on the A side. It was probably 40 minutes (early afternoon.

But reason for posting was about the security at LAX.

We flew from MCO to LAX to go to the DL F&W festival. We flew back home yesterday.

We had an 11AM flight. Hearing (and seeing) the horror stories about MCO, I didn't even want to think what LAX would be like.

I know nothing about LAX. We got dropped of at the Continental counter by the National car rental shuttle. Checked our luggage, and went over to security. There were about 5 people in line with 2 ID checkers. Went up the escalator and there were four x-ray machines with about two people in each line waiting. We were through in less than 5 minutes.

Was I lucky it was the Continental (shares with United) terminal?

What does LAX do that MCO doesn't (or can't)?

Ed

We flew out of MCO on Sat night and had no problem going through security. It took less then 5 mins!! Absolutely no lines at all. I can't remember which side we flew out of...We flew Airtran and arrived 1hr before our flight out at 8:30 pm.

We flew Monday afternoon(Southwest to Pittsburgh) got to the airport at 3:00 PM . Checked our luggage and got through security in 15 minutes. Hardly no lines at all through security.

Sounds like certain days of the week are worse than others. We flew back to Columbus Ohio from MCO this past February on a Saturday. The security lines were very busy, but moved pretty quick. I think we got through in about 15-20 minutes.

:cool1: :woohoo: :yay:

Through security Monday May 22 at 1pm. Onto tram in less than 10 minutes. They were really rushing us by actually making us run to first open lane.

Glad to hear these quicker times but there are still long lines at certain times of the day. I wouldn't cut it close just yet.
