When the security code level goes up do they not allow anyone to ride in the front of the monorail anymore? We were there about a week ago and the one day we rode the monorail the level had gone up one. We asked if we could be in front and were told noone is allowed to. This threw us off. I know someone earlier that same week that did ride in front. Just curious...

We were there in September when the alert level was raised. We were still able to ride in the front of the monorail. Maybe this is a new thing? Did you ask why no one was allowed? Or if you could at another time?

Maybe you can get an answer over on the transportation board.

We have been there when they were training a new driver and no one was allowed in the cab. Maybe this was the reason?

The monorail cab has certain rules regulating passengers. Each monorail is assigned a resort. (i.e. pink is assigned to contemporary, blue to poly, green to mk, gold to grand) Passengers are allowed to board a monorail cab if A) no passengers are on board or B) it is the monorail assigned to that location. Otherwise if passengers are already on board and it is no that locations monorail no one is allowed to board. Also if it is a new driver or if the train is going to be removed from the route no passengers allowed.

I believe the color assignements only apply to the resort monorail. The MK express monorail & the epcot ones don't have them.

With the Epcot monorail, even if there are people ahead of you waiting for the front cab, you can ask to wait for the next one to arrive.

Every Monorail has their own color PERIOD. Some stay on their certain track, but the Epcot->Magic Kingdom one does change color every now and then.

I realize the monorails are different colors, but I thought the assignment of a particular color to the guests of a particular resort only applied to the route that stops at those resorts. That's what I meant. There are no resort stops on the TTC to Epcot or Epcot to TTC runs. Anyone can ask to ride in the front cab at those stops.

If you go to this thread & scroll down to chip n dale express' post about the monorail rules, he says it better than I did!

has not allowed any front riders since 9/11--at least, that is what i was told last week

Many issues may prevent the front cab experience. Training, a/c inop, fog & rain, testing equipment, etc. It is a priority to make the front cab available to as many Guests as possible.

when I asked the DL monorail CM if they allowed riding up front he said "no, but I am not sure why--it's not like anyone could hijack it and take it anywhere!"

but alas, they still do not allow it at DL

We asked once on our last trip and were told sure.

We got to the front and the driver explained since the cab did not have its floor in he could not let us ride.
