Securing adjacent 2-bdrm OV & studio OV?

We are planning our first trip to Aulani in 2018. We are DVC members and are staying on points, so this might be more of a question for the DVC board, but I figured I'd try here first.

We will need three bedrooms. A 2-bdrm plus a studio is a whole lot cheaper in terms of points than a 3-bdrm Grand Villa. However, I would like the rooms to be adjacent to each other, if possible.

I am not aware of any way to ensure the rooms will be adjacent at the time of booking. I have had great luck using Touring Plan's room request fax service in the past, but that is not a guarantee and it only makes the request a few days before your arrival.

Any other options I could try to make sure my rooms are right next to each other? I am pretty sure the answer is "no", but wanted to double-check. Thank you!

You're right, the answer is "no". But you can improve your odds if you have the reservations linked and also note the request on both of them.

Thanks. Can you make that kind of request online, or do you have to talk to MS?

Seems like the last few times I booked, the only special requests you could make online were, like, a finite list of checkboxes ("close to lobby", "second floor" (at OKW), etc.). No blank text box to write a custom request.

FYI: When requesting that villas be close to each other, the best thing to do is to have the designation "Traveling With" assigned to each separate reservation.

Linking reservations applies when a guest has two or more separate reservation numbers and wants to stay in the same villa for the length of stay. For example, if a guest has booked a studio with their own points for the first 5 days, then has rented points for the remaining 3 days of their trip, DVC will issue two separate confirmation numbers. By asking Member Services to link the two reservations, the guest should be able to stay in the same villa for the entire length of their stay.

I just did a 'travel with' with friends of ours who will be at Aulani for part of the time we're there. I just emailed MS with both our travel details and they confirmed they added it to our bookings. Of course no guarantees they'll be able to accommodate us but we're hopeful.

I also agree with others on here to add "travel with" on your reservation. Since rooms are assigned the day of check in, they can't guarantee room requests but try to accommodate as best as possible.
