We were very excited to rebook on our Jan. 17th cruise for Feb. 5th 2005. Not only did we get a great discount but also a $200.00 onboard credit and we were able to get a secret porthole room. We always book cat. 10 and are quite satisfied with those rooms - this will just be a bonus for some natural light in the mornings. Can anyone tell me if there is anything different in this room being it is a connecting room? I know the view isn't the greatest but thats ok. If anyone has stayed in this room let me know .....Thanks so much :)

I can tell you in a few weeks. We're in 5022 and 5024 on the April 11th Wonder.

We are leaving 6-27 and will be staying in 5022/5024. These are the exact same rooms we were in 4 years ago. We really liked them. You get a lot of natural light, a night-lite at night, and you do get to see out of it. Definately worth it!!

The only real difference will be the noise from cabin 5022. Expect to hear them cough, sneeze, talk, and heaven forbid they have kids screeching or parents yelling at the kids. You're gaining some natural light, but the cost may be very high, depending on your neighbors. Bring earplugs!

we were pleasantly surprised when we were assigned this room. We did not know how lucky we were to get this until it was given to us. The cat is out of the bag now and they go 1st.

How are the SPH rooms laid out? Are they like other cat 10's with the sofa in the front of the cabin and the bed in the back? Or are they like other porthole cabins, cat 8's and 9's, with the bed first and the sitting area in the back next to the porthole?

We had these rooms about 2yrs ago. Your bed will be first with the sofa by the window. They are correct in the fact that you will hear your neighbors but we didn't complain as it was my in-laws next door. I'm also sure they didn't enjoy the crashing plates from our late night room service. Too make a long story short we had finished and i was going to set them outside they slid off sideways and ended up on the bathroom floor very loudly. One of the thing you'll need to do is close your curtains at night as you could wake up to crewmembers outside your window plus not much of a view at night as they will have lights on outside your window. I can't think of anything else but if i had a chance i would book these rooms again plus my nephew thought it was very cool that we got windows for the price of an inside cabin.

This can be said for any connecting room on the ship.

Congrats and enjoy....these rooms are the same as the cat 8's right next door - with a little less of a view :sunny:

Our family and my MIL/FIL were in 5022 & 5024 on the Wonder last November.

We had the door between the room open most of the time, so I'm not a good one to ask about the noise. We definitely enjoyed having the window. Its a little less claustrophic.

IMHO, getting the porthole is worth the risk that you may get noisy neighbors.

You guys are so great for all your information! I have one more question...do you lose any storage with the connecting door being there? hopefully we still have the storage trunk also! I'm happy no matter what - and being that we like to stay out late along with our teenage twin girls, we won't worry too much about noise. Thanks for all your feedback.:earsgirl:
