My kids will probably be out of school the second week of October next year. I'm thinking of maybe a short trip at a value resort. We have enough leftover tickets for two of us and will probably try to get our hands on a 3 day php tickets that I've seen listed at a couple of places. Anybody been this week? Was wondering about crowds and such. I'm sure the weekend would probably be kinda busy but during the week should be ideal, I hope. Also I wonder why October is a regualr season and not value? September and November are value but October is regular???Thanks in advance for your input..haven't clued DW in on this plan yet..

October has become the fall month of choice for many families to bring the kids (school-age or less) to wdw.

I was down there this year from 10/15-10/22 and I did not feel it was crowded at all. I had no crowd related issues with lines, transportation or dining. It was probably a littel busier than my last November visit but not horribly so.

October is our favorite time of year to go to WDW. It has gotten busier over the years and you will have folks coming in for the MNSS Halloween parties that start up around the middle of the month. We have found the weatehr to usually be delightful and the crowds are quiet compared to more peak seasons. Lots of people are there from Australia and Great Britain during October. Make your reservations early as the resorts do fill up. With the opening of Pop Century, there may be better deals and availability next year. You can always rebook your reservation at a cheaper rate if one becomes available.

Another very good reason would be:

Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival
Dates: October 18, 2003 - November 16, 2003
Location: Epcot®
Description: Discover a world of flavors as you sample authentic wines and cuisine representing more than 30 countries and regions. This year's Festival features a host of international marketplaces, exciting demonstrations and seminars, special exhibits and much more. With the Festival's "Eat to the Beat" Concert Series, great food will be accompanied by your favorite artists. And best of all, entrance to the Festival is included in your Epcot® admission.

We've gone that week for the past two years. This year however, the crowds were more than we had the previous year. Probably due to the FTP special WDW was running. It was not by any means unbearable. Yet, we tried to switch Disney hotels and there weren't any rooms available to switch to because of the Columbus Day holiday week. There were longer lines on rides but nothing some fast passes couldn't handle. The crowds were mostly on Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon. Midweek was great.

It's a very nice time of year. However, we are thinking into going in September instead this coming year. Only drawback to that is not being able to attend MNSSHP which was an absolute blast!!!

You won't be disappointed in WDW during October (or anytime of year for that matter....although I would never go during a winter/spring break!!)
:sunny:
