second thoughts...not propaganda, but child abuse

whats your first reaction when you see this pic?

this is a pic that appears all over the internet. perhaps you have seen it, as you were looking at anti-american propaganda. The theme:Americans are getting fat and stuff. Second thoughts, this is none other than child abuse!!

okay...what kind of sick demented parent would give this picture away for reasons propaganda why america is so fat? This poor kid obviously has a serious health problem, an eating disorder, and what do the parents do? They post this pic all over the net with hateful comments everywhere about this poor boy! He looks only 5 or 6? did he choose to be hated all over the net for his health problem? no!!! Man, that photo ticks me off. Its not the kid - its the parents. They shouldn't have distributed his picture all over anti-american "americans are fat" propaganda. Parents are supposed to protect their children not harass them! God bless and protect that poor little kid!!

I'm confused. Do you think it's child abuse because the kid is fat and the parents let him get that way eating at McD's, or because the picture was distributed on the web? Do you know the kid? How do you know that he has a serious health issue? I think he looks like a growing number of children I see every day at school. What's the point?

Demented or not, it's really not fair of you to assume that the parents are the ones that distributed that picture. It's been circulating the net for years now, and my guess is that someone stole it and then it just became a phenom. That's what seems to happen on the internet you know. I've had to lock down a lot of my own pictures (with the exception of the ones I've recently posted here on thread killers) because I've had pictures of my own child taken and claimed as their own.

So I definately wouldn't assume the parents distributed this picture.

Also... the picture itself distrubs me, but it's not my place to say whether or not it's right or wrong. I don't like judging parent's choices in this case just because I don't know the whole story. I could roll my eyes, yell and scream, but it's not going to make a difference in that child's life. All I can do is take the lesson learned from that picture and make sure my own children grow up as happy and HEALTHY as humanly possible.

And if he thinks it's so bad that the pic is on the web ,why repost it..This thread could still exist without posting the picture.

and p.s., until you have a child with a weight problem, be it just from over eating or from a metabolic disorder or for any other reason i wouldn't jump to conclusions about a demented and/or abusive home.

Well, I've seent his kid and his mother on maury. he is only about 2 or 3 yrs old. The whole show was on overweight children.

But, why did you post this here so we could all see. you are just trying to push the issue. leave it alone. If it was your kid then you could do something but it's not. maybe the mods could remove this post and then we would all leave it alone.
