Second reservation - is this possible?

At the moment we have two weeks booked at Poly for next year (keeping all fingers crossed that 2022 will finally see UK to US travel again!) DH and I are now debating a switch to POR. We had planned the Poly as I'll be celebrating my 40th birthday but between the changes to FP and new deals coming out with dining credits that dont apply to our booking, we're second guessing a bit now.

So, at some point a compromise has been suggested - move our two week package to POR but book one night at the Poly for my birthday. We wouldn't want to do this as a split stay ie checking out of one resort and into a another. Instead we'd want to just spend one of our nights at Poly instead of POR, effectively having two live resort stays on the same night. We would be returning to POR for the remainder of our trip.

Anyone have any experience of this? Wondering if MDE can cope with this and also if it's frowned upon to have two rooms at the same time?

Let me get this...
You have 2 weeks at the Poly booked and you want to hold it for one night?
hmmm....okay. To be honest, I’ve done it, but for maybe a week tops.
POR is nice, but how long were you planning on staying there before you move to the Poly? (Which would be paid room only).
If I’m correct you have to get another POR reservation.

Celebrations at WDW are fabulous and HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY🎁🎈🎊🪅🎉🍡🧁🍰🎂

The problem is with getting in and out of the room, You can not be officially checked in to both at the same time.

We do this with our DVC but usually our overlap night is for our second resort so we end up checking out later that day.

Sometimes, people has had success making the extra night with an initial and last name instead of your full name in MDE. Then make those as friends in your account. This way, you’d get a new key for that room only.

Not sure I've understood you correctly but no, we don't want to hold the two week reservation. What we're talking about is cancelling our package booked at the Poly and booking for POR instead and we started wondering about booking a single night at the Poly in the middle of that two week period (we've checked and there's availability). Basically a mini-vacation within the vacation.

We may ultimately keep our original reservation at the Poly, we're just looking at options right now. We've stayed at POR many times and love it. Poly has always been on our WDW bucket list.

Thanks, this is pretty much what I thought in terms of being checked in to both rooms at once but wanted to check :)

Yes, you can definitely do that - and I say, go for it! For one night, it's worth the "convenience fee" of having to pay for two hotels for one night to NOT have to pack up everything and schelp it...or even to have Disney schelp it.
