I currently have a resale contract that I got 5 years ago (so I’m grandfathered in with some of the perks), June UY at AKV. We are thinking of getting a second contract at Poly, just not sure if I’d want another June UY especially after all of the covid madness up until they decided to help June UYs out with 2018/2019 points.

We tend to avoid summer travel and go around Labor Day, mid-October, January, March, we used to go for Memorial Day but haven’t in a few years.

We want Poly because we have a toddler that would be loving MK and you can’t beat a monorail Resort.

What would all of you seasoned veterans with multiple contracts suggest??

June UY only mattered for COVID for those who book within the last four months of their use year.

for your travel pattern, maybe a September or October UY.

Just remember a different UY is a different membership. It is like you are 2 different people.

If you want to use points together at 7 months for a single reservation, you have to transfer and then call to use or modify reservations with them, Otherwise, you book part of the stay on one and part of the stay on the other.

No matter the UY, traveling after a banking window is the risk. Even If you had had a Sept UY and were traveling Memorial Day and the shut down happened, you would be in the same situation.

If you are good with another membership, then a fall one would be ideal since summer is your least likely time to travel.

I would suggest to keep the same use year. Much easier to combine points for reservations.

If you plan on combining your points regularly you should keep you UY. June UY is really good for Oct/Nov/Dec, as would be August,

iI have 3 contracts, two at AKV and they are the same UY. The third is at Boardwalk and has a different UY. However, the Boardwalk contract I only use for 11 month boardwalk stays.

Your toddler will not be a toddler forever. Buy where you want to buy, not for the kiddo. If you like mid-Oct, make sure you buy a resort you like to stay at because that's where you will be staying in mid-Oct.

Also, when you are looking at buying a different UY, remember that you will not be able to combine those points for a single reservation unless you transfer from one to the other. Then the transferred resort will remain whatever resort and UY you buy. They don't automatically change to the resort you transferred. You cannot transfer banked or borrowed points and you cannot borrow transferred points. You are limited to one transfer a year.

Making sure I understand this...so let’s say I have 200 points at AKV with my June UY and I have 150 points at poly with say and October UY. I want to book at poly at 11 months out but need 200 points for that reservation. Would I not be able to book that with MS since 100 points would need to be transferred from my AKV contract??

At 11 months - you can ONLY use Poly points to book Poly -

Don't forget, though... you could borrow the additional 50 points from the Poly contract's next UY and book at 11 months using only that contract without needing to transfer from the AKV contract.

Thanks everyone!!! This helps me understand the multiple UY as well as different resort issue we may potentially have one day

To book Poly at 11 months with a 150 point contract, you’d need to borrow for a 200 point trip. Your AKV points are not good there until 7 months, no matter if they are the same UY or not.

When you transfer, those points don’t change status including home resort or UY.

But, once you did transfer points, and want to book a trip, you call MS and they will book it. Here is the thing I learned this year too. You can not use transferred points if you have borrowed points sitting in your account. Those have to be used up first.

Now I see why so many here recommend treating a second UY contract as if it’s an entirely different person booking.
