sebbaceous nevus?

My dd8 has a derm appointment Saturday to evaluate her "what I thought was a birthmark all these years" turns out to be some thing called sebbaceous(sp?) nevus. anyone ever dealt with this?? As a nurse I want to go online and look up everything but am afraid to do so (the fear of understanding). I know her ped dr said it has to be removed. I feel guilty that I should of asked what it was years ago. a mothers pain.....

thank you, I read the whole link. She is 8 so I don't think she has any neurological deficits. I am calm down now. I just can't believe I let this slide by and not even question what it was. We go on Sat. for the appt.

Do not beat yourself up over it! It hasn't been an issue for her so far, so it should be an easy process to remove it and go on with life! It will be okay.

I was looking through my subscribed threads and came back to see what the doctor said. How is your daughter?

Hi everyone, just a long overdue update. My daughter had it removed in office (glad I didn't have to put her thru anesthesia) the biopsy came back negative and they did get all of it, so hopefully we won't be going back to derm until she is a teenager (lol). thanks for the encouraging words and feedback. glad it is over

That is wonderful news! This was one of those messages where you really wanted to know the outcome, and you forget about it for a little bit until it pops in your head one day! That was me a few days ago! LOL
