Well,

I was supposed to head out today for my birthday trip to Seaworld, but ended up at an emergency vet with my dog late last night and needed to cancel the trip. (He's going to be okay, but needs my constant supervision for a few days while he recovers).

Anyway, I have rescheduled for next weekend, and thus far it is looking like it is going to storm both days. Now, I really don't mind the rain at all, however, I had a few questions for anyone who has had a well, extra wet trip to seaworld!

- Do they cancel outdoor shows such as Blue Horizons and One Ocean?
- If there is just rain and no lightning, will the coasters shut down?
- I have the beluga interaction program and the dolphins up close tours booked. I'm not worried about Belugas as I have done it before and it is mostly indoors, but would they cancel the Dolphin up close tour due to rain?
- Do they cancel dolphin feeding times due to rain?
- Does the park tend to clear out more ( I know at WDW rainy days are great for getting short wait times)

I'd love to hear everyone's experiences on very rainy seaworld days

(I realize the forecast may change, but I just want to be prepared!)

Thank you. :dumbo:

** & a HUGE shout out to the wonderful staff at Doubletree Seaworld who understood my situation and waived the 1 night cancellation charge. What customer service! You guys ROCK! (if they happen to look here, just wanted to throw that out there to these nice people)

It's been my experience that the shows go on in rain, but get haulted with lightning, same with coasters. I was in a dolphin show when they had to pause for a lightning storm, unfortunately they ended up canceling and I learned a lesson, do your most important shows first! Was so disappointed! Can't speak to the dolphins or the tour though.

That is great advice. For those going in the summer time, there are thunderstorms with lightning pretty much every single afternoon in the summer starting around 2 or 3:00. These storms can last from a few minutes to a few hours. Definitely get what's most important to you done first thing in the morning when you are visiting when there is a chance of rain or visiting anytime during the summer.

Thanks! That is good to know.
I have the dolphin's up close the first morning, so hopefully that will miss the rain. Hopefully I get lucky with no rain during dine with shamu that night... :\
The next day i will catch blue horizons before beluga interaction.

Thanks! This is helping with my timing. I'm not too heartbroken if I don't see everything because we are AP holders and live 2.5 hours away, but I like to plan my days as effectively as possible!

You were spot on with the weather forcast. It seems that those pop up summer thunderstorms have started early this year. They moved in around 5:00 and are just about clearing out now. Went to Seaworld today and the last Shamu show was cancelled because of the weather. Advice for those who are going to Seaworld in the coming weeks. If there are only two Shamu shows for the day. Make sure you get to the first show. Lightning might cancel the 2nd show like it did today.
