We are going to Disney staying at SSR for 1 week in June with DD,DSIL, DS, DDIL, and 4 DG-kids (7-1 years) to celebrate our 40th Anniversary. We are planning to come to Orlando 2 days earlier and stay at a hotel near SeaWorld. I think I have it narrowed to Residence Inn at SeaWorld or Doubletree at SeaWorld. Any suggestions? TIA

We had a great experience at the Residence Inn Seaworld on our Christmas 2012 trip. You can click on the link in my signature for my trip report. It has lots of photos of the room, the common areas, and the pool/recreation areas.

The RI has free parking, free internet, and a free hot and cold breakfast buffet that's really quite good for an included perk. The RI also has suites with fully separate bedroom (or bedrooms, if you want two), multiple TV's in each suite, and a kitchen with a full sized fridge. The pool is zero entry (good for the little ones) and there's a large basketball/sport court in a lovely courtyard next to the pool and hot tub area.

Both the Doubletree and the RI will offer the same onsite benefits (free transportation, free QQ, etc.) and are very close to the SW parks.

We have stayed at the double tree several times, and have always had a great stay. They do charge for parking. the pools are nice, and the rooms are fine.

The cold items were the same on a daily basis....I remember there was yogurt, 3-4 different kinds of cereal, two different types of muffins (varied each day as to flavours), assorted bagels, bread (there was a toaster available), fruit salad, assorted pastries, and whole fruits. For drinks, there was orange juice, apple juice, cranberry juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, white milk, and soda.

The hot items varied somewhat each day. One day was pancakes and sausage rounds. Another was scrambled eggs, sausages, and hash browns. There was always sausage gravy and biscuits, and a big pot of oatmeal with brown sugar and other toppings.

Do they charge for parking or a resort fee at Residence?

Nope. Parking, internet and breakfast are all included in your room rate (as well as the SeaWorld perks, such as free Quick Queue and early entry on select dates), and there is no resort fee :thumbsup2 .
