I didn't see an earlier thread on this but it has been previously announced that SeaWorld would be going public.

Today the Orlando Sentinel has a story that at least 2 groups are looking at buying SW - another private equity firm (Apollo) or Six Flags Entertainment Corp.

From what I understand, Apollo owns Great Wolf Resorts, and Six Flags owns...ummmm....Six Flags.

I haven't been to a Six Flags in years. For those of you who frequent them, what do you think? Would it be a good fit?

I think it would be a good fit. Sea World has grown to be more ride oriented than in the past and Six Flags will help continue the trend. I am a big fan of the sea animals but the shows are just not the same as they used to be. Especially the killer whales show(s) - trainer not being allowed in the water is really a bummer.

Its an ok fit. SW is all about the animals and shows. And if they were to take that away it wouldn't be SW. Now some of the other parks like BG now they would fit perfect with them.

Six Flags and even Apollo need to stay away from Sea World and Busch Gardens, very far!!!!Anything would be better than Six Flags or Apollo getting involved,The Sea World/Busch parks are on another level and these companies or groups are not fit to run these parks.A company like Apollo is there to make money first and foremost, that means cutting here and cutting there, quality will go down, they'll make their money and then bail on the park and sell it,Six Flags has no real experience with animals or a major destination park like Sea World,I know they own Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Great Adventure which have animals and having been to those parks I can say they have no experience to run a park with animals correctly,or the way Sea World is currently run.The parks need to either go public keeping the same management they currently have, have the Busch family come back to the parks or as much as I never wanted it to happen have Disney or Universal purchase the parks,at least the parks will be in more sure hands. The only Sea World park I could see fitting in with Six Flags would be the San Antonio park which has Six Flags Fiesta Texas nearby, the proximity and not being a major tourist destination like Orlando could work there, somewhat at least.
