We are taking DD to Discovery Cove for her 6th birthday. We will just be spending 2 nights there - the 2nd day we will probably go to Aquatica or SeaWorld. Can anyone suggest a nice hotel close to the parks? We will have our car, but it would be nice to have something very close by.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We did Sea World and Aquatica from the new Hilton Orlando base last year, and my kids are begging me to go back there. I got a stellar deal through a discount travel website b/c we went during their soft launch, so I'm not sure how pricing is these days.

It is very close to the Sea World Parks: http://www.thehiltonorlando.com/

They also have a lazy river and a nice pool with water slide. The restaurant was so - so -- slow service and expensive, but it was the soft launch so I'll cut them a break and say that may have been why. However, they have yummy gelato in the gift shop.

Thanks...I'll check it out.

By the way, how was Aquatica? I gave DD the choice between it and SW, and she wants to try Aqautica, but I'm reading mixed reviews. Did you guys like it?

Sea Harbor Drive goes around the edge of SeaWorld, there are several hotels on that road. We have stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is on that road and right behind the park. There is also the Hilton Grand Vacations Club Seaworld Resort across the street. Fabulous place for families.

There are quite a few hotels that are adjacent or near SeaWorld, including:
Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld
Hilton Garden Inn
Residence Inn
Fairfield Inn & Suites
SpringHill Suites
and four nearby timeshare resorts:
Hilton Grand Vacation Club at SeaWorld
Marriott's Harbour Lake
Marriott's Cypress Harbour
Marriott's Grande Vista

And many, many others in easy driving distance - there's no shortage of hotel rooms in that area of Orlando.

We stayed at the Residence Inn Sea World last summer. It was about a 5 minute drive from Sea World. It was nice. Nothing super fancy, but clean and nice to have a separate bedroom from the main area. had a small kitchen with a full fridge. The bed was very comfy. I got a good rate through the Marriott site. They had a deal where you got tickets and the room and a stuffed Shampoo for the kids. I would stay again if they were offering the same rates.

You've been given great choice, all super close. If you are planning to walk to Sea World, the Hiton Grand Vacaton club, Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld, or Hilton Garden Inn at Sea World are probably your best bets.

We've done two budget mini weekend trips to Sea World in the past year and stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on both stays and really like this hotel (mini frig and microwave, reasonable tasty food available for room service, and nice little pool/jacuzzi). The Renaissance looks lovely, but is more expensive. And if I were doing a full week (longer stay) and could get a good deal I'd go for the condo choice (Hilton Grand Vacation Club at Sea World) for sure.

If you don't mind a super short drive over, that opens other super close options too.

We thought Aquatica was a very nice water park. I'm biased, though, toward the flagship Sea World park -- it's my family's favorite out of all the world class theme parks in the area, and we love it so much that we got two year season passes and my son is doing a Sea World overnight camp for the second time this summer.

The Fairfield Inn and Springhill Suites are located on International Drive directly behind Sea World. Both are very nice, having just opened last July (2009). You can see the evening fireworks from your room, if facing the park on an upper floor. It's not within walking distance, but a short drive to the front of the park.
