8 days! Aaaand we're down to the second row! How is time flying by this quickly?! I just can't believe it! (You'll probably hear this 50 more times)..

Anyway, this week is our difficult week. Matt has a LOT going on at work, with their NY office in town, and I'm just trying to take things day to day around here. We figure our most difficult days are today and tomorrow. By Thursday, we're winding down into the weekend, so we're just trying to get through these two days. This evening after dinner I need to give Matt a haircut because his hair is getting way too long and out of control. That boy has some mighty curly hair, and it's not easy to cut, but I think I've actually gotten really good at dealing with his hair. It's something I like doing, even though I get nervous, just because I've gotten better at it.

I myself actually made a pedicure appointment at my favorite salon for Monday. I am fortunate to have Monday off (Matt doesn't), so I'm spending the morning getting my toes made all pretty and then getting a haircut. My hair has gotten SUPER long, so what better time to get it cut than right before our vacation? I'm pretty excited to have it be a few inches shorter again because it's gotten really annoying to deal with.

So last night Matt and I were talking a LOT about our trip and we came upon the agreement that although we have plans for a few days and have ADRs, we are going to wing the rest of our days. We really truly loved getting up in the morning, looking at my Lines app on my iPhone, and then deciding from there where we'd want to head off to. It was such a nice way to spend out vacation, not having to worry about HAVING to be anywhere, but rather WANTING to be somewhere, or not! This is why we vacation in Disney World in January and also go for 10 days; it allows us to not NEED a touring plan of any sort and we have so many days to enjoy the parks that we don't feel the need to rush around.

We talked about all of the attractions we missed last time and I'm kind of surprised at how many we didn't make it to, for one reason or another: Splash Mountain, Mickey's Philharmagic, The Tiki Room, Snow White, Winnie the Pooh, Star Tours, Tower of Terror, Soarin', Test Track, Astro Orbiter... I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of right now, but those are the ones I know we are planning on going to this time. It seems like we missed a LOT, but I think that says something... You can still manage to have an amazing time in Disney World, even when you miss some of the more "major" rides in the parks. There's so much to do and see!

While I told Matt of all the attractions, and got to Soarin', he stopped me and said, "No, say it correctly, the Stacey way..." and we laughed really hard as I waved my hands in the air and said "Sooooaaarinnnn'!" I just love that my husband actually remembers some of the crazy antics of Stacey. He also made me say "TEST TRACK BABY!" as well. We are such dorks; these are the things we do while we're laying in bed at night.:rotfl:

Oh one last thing I wanted to show off. My in-laws gave us this beautiful framed pin set to put up in our house and I'm really happy to have it. It's a limited edition set (only 2500 exist), so I'm excited to put it up on our wall once we get back from our trip with any other art we pick up.

Onto the photo challeeeeenge!

Day 24: A picture of your favorite Disney-related possession or souvenir
jackandsally.jpg

This is our Disney Gallery of Light 3D box that we got during our honeymoon. We love this scene a lot in the movie itself, so when we saw this piece of artwork we knew we had to have it. It's really beautiful and sits on our mantle over our fireplace, along with a picture box I got Matt for his birthday of the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion. These are such cool pieces of artwork that always get people's attention when they come over our house. :goodvibes

Love the no planning.

We have lines, too and will use that as well.

DD6 will quote Stacey to me, too and if we decide to pass up one of the "Must Do Disneys" she'll tell me, "but mommy, it's a must-do!":rotfl2:

I think we are doing AK on Sat, Jan 21st in the evening (instead of Jan 22nd), so we'll just warm up EE for you!:goodvibes

Yeah, the no planning is nice, just makes things more relaxed for the both of us!

Last year I used some random app for lines, but I now have Lines from TP, which seems to work really well. I also have like 2 other apps (obsessed much? :lmao:) but I like that Lines lists more than just certain attractions. We will definitely be using that one!

That's so funny about your DD! I can totally see why you just HAVE to do the Must-Dos!!

You know what is funny? I'm such a dork; I read your plans and thought, "HEY! We'll be there the same evening at AK doing the EE thing!" and mentioned it to Matt and he responded, "No, the 21st is Saturday and we have no set plans that day except going to Whispering Canyon for dinner, remember?" to which I sat puzzled for a moment and realized, yep, he's totally right. We're doing the AK thing on SUNDAY (and I even said that earlier in a reply to you! :lmao:). I just totally had a brain fart and thought it was Saturday! :rolleyes1 So we'll miss you by a day but definitely warm up EE for me, because I'm planning on riding it quite a bit that evening! :yay:

:cheer2: 8 days! :cheer2: Soooo close! LOVE the framed pin set, I've never seen anything like it! The week before always seems to be the crazy time, right? I'm in that week before the week place where I keep wanting to do stuff but it's too early to pack most things and I can't figure out what to do with myself!

WOOHOO! I know, so close!! :goodvibes

I'm really happy about the pin set; they got it years ago in Disney World but I'm not sure when or anything else about it. I just know that it is a really beautiful piece that we are really happy to have.

The week before IS always crazy, blah. I'm just hoping work dies down a bit later in the week, fingers crossed!

I totally started packing this past weekend, mostly in part because there are clothes that I can only wear in Disney World right now (shorts and t-shirts), so I let myself pack whatever I can! It's hard though when you're just not quite at that stage! :rotfl: You feel kind of stuck in a limbo!

It just keeps getting smaller and smaller because... we are ONE WEEK AWAY from leaving for our trip! :yay: Time really has been flying every day since we began this countdown. I thought it would totally drag out but it really hasn't! Thank goodness for that. :)

We were trying to figure out how we were going to get to the airport because our friend Lindsey, who originally offered to drive us, told us she couldn't because she has a dog show. Obviously understandable as we were just thankful she'd offered to originally do it at all, but now we were going to need a new way of getting there. We've done the Shuttle Express here but it costs $50 to get to Sea-Tac, PLUS you have to pick up other people on your way... and I just began wondering about the cost of a taxi cab or town car, since there's no sharing your car and having to pick up others. After doing some research, I realized a town car would not be any more expensive, and got a quote from a reputable company that with the gas surcharge, it would cost us $49.50 (then we'd just have to tip, which is the same for what we'd tip the Shuttle Express person).

Then our friend Bruce who is watching our dogs/house while we're gone offered to just drive us in our car, even though I feel bad since they're already doing a lot for us as it is! But he said he'd rather us save the cab fare and would drive us no problem. I still feel a little guilty but it's definitely kind of him to do it for us. :goodvibes I do think we might end up booking the town car for getting home from the airport because the past 3-4 times we've gotten a ride from my in-laws they've been really late, plus then we don't have to bother anyone for a ride. Makes it waaaay easier to deal with getting home! :thumbsup2

Not much else to report on the trip front! We're in that limbo where we've packed what we can, but still need to finish up the rest of our stuff that we can't really do until we're past this weekend of doing our final bits of laundry, if that makes sense. So jeans, sneakers, hoodies, underwear, socks, and all that fun stuff still needs to be packed.

We were acting like 5 year olds when talking about flying in first-class, mainly because it's more than likely going to be the only time we ever get to do that together... but I told Matt that I will be drinking the free wine so I can knock myself out on the flight. I remembered how wine TOTALLY wipes me out after a few glasses, so I'm hoping to just fall asleep after some dinner and wine. I'm aiming for a good first day in the parks and to not be totally wiped out to the point of no return!

Okay, onto fun things, liiike.. The Photooooo Chaaaaallleeeeenge.

Day 25: A picture of your favorite childhood Disney memory
mickey.jpg

Okay so, I don't have a photo of the first time I met Mickey but I figured you'd get the idea between my little 6 year old face and Mickey Mouse. I mentioned this in my introduction type post, but the first time I ever met Mickey Mouse was seriously one of the best things ever.

It was 1991, and we were having breakfast for my little brother's birthday. All I remember is meeting Mickey over in the now-defunct Mickey's Starland, and when I saw him I just ran into his arms and gave him a huge hug. The icing on the cake? MICKEY GAVE ME A KISS ON THE CHEEK. It was the best thing ever. I just know that it made my LIFE that I finally got to meet him. I will never forget that moment of running up to him and hugging him and hearing the little kiss on the cheek. :cloud9:

Hey my friend, just caught up! I can't believe how close we are!:yay: I'm in the middle of packing and thought of you and had to check in! Looks like you're in good shape and ready!:thumbsup2

You guys really have a sweet friend willing to take you to the airport! And the town car sounds nice on the way home!:wizard: Nice way to end the trip and not bug anyone.

I hope we cross paths at some point, I was just looking at your days, not so sure we will though! If for some reason I miss you on here, please have a safe trip, have a magical vacation and I look forward to your TR, no rush of course, because that means both of your trips will be over!:sad1:

I love that pin set your in-laws got you! It's so cute! I also like the Jack & Sally art. I can't wait to see those boxes in person at the Art of Disney.

Good idea with the wine, that would knock me out too. I hope you guys can get a lot of sleep on the plane.

So glad to hear from you! :) You guys are getting SO CLOSE! :cool1: Must be pretty excited. I swear packing for Disney is the only time it's actually fun!

We do have a great friend to do that for us. He keeps insisting so we'll take him up on the offer. :) I think it'll be nice to not have to bug anyway on our way home, so I'm happy about that!

We might cross paths because we are notorious for changing our plans and going with the flow and what we're feeling like doing that particular day, so you NEVER know. If you see us definitely say hi though! I would love to run into a fellow DISer! :goodvibes

Thank you so much and I hope you guys have an amazing trip! I am really looking forward to your TR as well; I think having TRs will help us slowly ween ourselves away from our trips, as sad as it will be.

I know, it's so awesome. :) I'm hoping for lots of sleep on the plane because last red-eye to Orlando I got none. :(

SIDE NOTE! What day are you thinking of doing AK for the EE at night thing? We're planning on Sunday the 22nd (even though I totally thought it was Saturday at first :rolleyes1), so if you're there I hope you find me and say hi because that would be awesome! I'll text you while we're there and let you know when we're over at OKW, since I think we'll be taking the boat back from DTD to OKW, then catch a bus back to Epcot and walk to our resort. Sounds like a lot and might take a little longer than a bus from DTD to BC (though that's disputable, I've heard the buses from DTD to BC can be a nightmare), but we really want to visit OKW at least once just to say hi to one of Matt's favorite resorts. :)

Anyway, let me know because if you're going to be there Sunday I would love to say hi! :goodvibes

Sorry my response was so short earlier. I've had a rough day. :sad1:
It will be either Saturday the 21st or Sunday the 22nd. I don't know yet because Saturday night will be our first night at OKW and who knows how that'll be with Riley. I guess it will depend on when our room is ready Sat. so we can go back and get everything ready for her bedtime. I want to do EMH at MK on Sunday night so I was hoping it'd work out to be at AK Saturday night instead. I'll definitely text you and let you know where we are those nights!
I would love to see you guys anywhere at WDW so we should keep up with each other. :) We could meet up one night for drinks at Epcot if we miss each other at AK. I would love to see you guys at DTD or OKW too! We will figure it out. I'd love for you to meet Ri, but it might be easier for me to meet up in the evening once she's in bed because then I won't be with the whole family. Since there's 7 of us it would be more difficult to meet up when we are all together.
Actually I've never explored the BC/BW/YC area so I'd love to come visit there if I have time! I have a feeling we will be texting a lot. :rotfl:

I do Lines too! My user name is the same here and there!

OKW19 -- maybe we'll see you at AK on 1/21 in the evening.

dani- I don't have any set plans for 1/22 yet, if we did enjoy AK on 1/21, we may head over there again to ride EE at night!

Sorry my response was so short earlier. I've had a rough day. :sad1:

Don't even worry about it at all! You comment like every day (and have I told you how much I do appreciate that? Even on my less amusing posts!), but I am really sorry you had a rough day. DEFINITELY toss me an e-mail if you need to vent at all. I've been meaning to send you one but I've been trying to move away from last weeks' debacle and not think/talk about it as much. Mainly because it took over like 4 days of my life and I'm now just trying to be positive at work and outside of work, ya know? It's nice not thinking about it. BUT if you need to vent, feel free, I'm here and always check my gmail at work since I'm always on gchat. :)

Okay well either way just let me know. If that doesn't work out we can do some other time! I think our plan is to do AK until 6:30-7ish or so, then we have an ADR at Via Napoli at 7:45... After THAT we might head over to MK for EMH that night if we have the energy. But just let me know what you're up to for sure!

Agreed! We will have to figure something out. And yes, it is hard when there's a ton of people, so evening may end up working out! The nice part is that we're so close to Epcot being at BC that I'm sure we can work something out, especially if you come over to that area! We will definitely be texting buddies. :rotfl:

Yeah! Lines seems like it's pretty great! My name is the same as it is on here, too! And sounds good about Sunday.. but even if you just see us in any park say hi!! :goodvibes

I'm not going to lie, I'm pretty proud of myself for updating every single day for the past bit! I think when you are this close (hello, 6 days!) to leaving, you just want to constantly think about and talk about your trip!

Is it odd that I've suddenly become worried that like, the crowds are going to be oddly worse than they were last year when we went in January? I know that sounds silly but I'm just worried. I think part of it is because of stinkin' touringplans giving me WAY higher numbers than easywdw. But honestly, I'm sticking with easywdw for this trip in terms of what parks they recommend over TP. We'll see how we fare, and I'm sure I'll be fine but I have this god awful fear that we're going to get there and have there be these ridiculous crowds that we never expected! :scared1: I think I'm just psyching myself out honestly, and I'll get over it in like 5 minutes. :rotfl:

Anyhoot, not a whole lot else happening. Matt and I have started to discuss our plan of action for the next 6 days leading up to leaving. Tomorrow I get out of work early :cool1:, then we are heading up to the cabin. After a relaxing weekend in the mountains with no internet (oh shoot, you will not hear from me on Saturday! Guess I'll have to do a double photo challenge to make up for it on Sunday!), we'll be back Sunday morning and THAT is where a lot of laundry/packing will happen. We're also going to stop at Target for any last-minute items we may be missing, too.

Monday is my little spa morning and then going home, packing whatever else can be done and more cleaning while Matt is at work. Then we just have to get through Tuesday and Wednesday and then we are off to Disney on Wednesday evening! At this time, one week from today, we will be either finishing a fast nap or making our way to the monorail to do our monorail resorts loop tour! :yay:

How 'bout today's photo!

Day 26: A picture of the way you keep Disney alive when you’re not at the park.
md.jpg

Honestly, part of it is keeping the photos and stuff like that alive on Facebook, and the other part of it is by coming here! I love visiting the DISboards, reading people's TRs and PTRs, because it makes me think of how much fun we have on our trips and look forward that much more to our next one. :goodvibes

I hope that you do the same if you see us! :goodvibes Always fun to have a DIS meet! I really can't believe it's almost time, is it me or did it just all of a sudden FLY by?!:confused3 I'm not complaining but just want to be sure that NEXT week goes by slllllloooowwwllly, you catch my drift? ;) And yes, it will be fun to relive it on the flip side, just not ready to be there yet!:rotfl:

Enjoy the cabin this weekend and your time off! And your spa day sounds heavenly!:cloud9: Next time you get back here, I'll be on my way!

So safe travels and I hope I get to see you in the parks! :goodvibes Oh and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

I'm freaking out too, just about different stuff! I think it's part of the pre-trip jitters! I was just headed to my PTR to talk about it, but now I have to go make dinner. Sheesh, why do the kids always want to eat when I need to talk about Disney?!?!

I can't believe you posted this about the crowds, I was literally just thinking about this at work today!! What if they are bad?! I don't know what to expect now but I'm hoping for short waits like normal.

Anyhoot, not a whole lot else happening. Matt and I have started to discuss our plan of action for the next 6 days leading up to leaving. I can't believe in 7 days exactly you will be in Orlando! :yay:

I love the DisBoards too. :goodvibes It's a great place to keep the magic alive

I hope that you do the same if you see us! :goodvibes Always fun to have a DIS meet! I most definitely will! And time SO flew by. I can't believe how close it get every day. Is it weird that sometimes I want to go to bed early just so I can wake up and take another day off of our countdown? :rotfl:

Thanks! It'll be nice to be up in the mountains for a few days of peace and quiet. And yes, I am quite excited for Monday! Though it's like a half spa day half clean/pack day. But I'll take it!! Safe travels to you as well and hope to see you down in the most magical place in the world! :goodvibes

I'm freaking out too, just about different stuff! I think it's part of the pre-trip jitters! I was just headed to my PTR to talk about it, but now I have to go make dinner. Sheesh, why do the kids always want to eat when I need to talk about Disney?!?!

Haha I think it's definitely pre-trip jitters. I got over it 5 minutes later and realized it'll be fine, the crowds will be fine, and we'll have a blast!

 I had a better one today, so I think everything will be okay. I'm doing the same as you and trying not to think about it!

Glad to hear your day was better! It's never fun having crappy days, seriously.
I will let you know no matter what! I can't imagine having energy after a meal at Via Napoli to make it to EMH!

Sounds good to me! We sometimes get these crazy bursts of energy, so if we're not too pooped from the day and then a delicious dinner, well, we'll be making our way over to MK for some EMH! (I'm sure we'll be pooped though )
I will definitely be at Epcot probably more than one night so that might work out the best to meet there or at the BW/BC area.

Awesome, sounds good!
I'm so glad you've been updating every day! I look forward to reading each evening. :)
I can't believe you posted this about the crowds, I was literally just thinking about this at work today!! What if they are bad?! I don't know what to expect now but I'm hoping for short waits like normal.

It's been fun and kept me busy and amused at work during slow moments, so yay for that! I think the crowds will be okay though! Looking at the Lines app and stuff makes me feel better. I think some of the high numbers come from the tour groups, so once they clear out it's okay. :thumbsup2
Sounds like you are going to have a fairly easy time up until you leave Wednesday!!
I can't believe in 7 days exactly you will be in Orlando! :yay:

I think so, but who knows with work? I could have something dropped in my lap at any moment! And I know! This morning Matt said, on our way out the door to work, "At this moment a week from now, we'll be at Animal Kingdom..." and then I got really excited. :yay:

I love the DisBoards too. :goodvibes It's a great place to keep the magic alive

It really is and I'm so glad I found this place!! Otherwise I'd never have met you! :goodvibes

HOW AMAZING IS THAT?! So the story behind it is, when Up first came out on blu-ray, we immediately bought it since we loved it so much and it came with some fun extras, including this handy-dandy amazing Adventure Journal! I waited and waited to use it for the right time, and eventually we moved to our new house and so I wasn't 100% sure where I'd put it.

Last night Matt tossed something on my lap while I was reading on my iPad, and I looked down and saw that he'd found my Adventure Journal that I'd been looking for!! What an awesome husband, huh? I am so excited to be able to use this for my trip, for taking notes, and for putting photos in it! It's so perfect and I just wanted to show off my new awesome Adventure Journal for our amazing trip. :goodvibes

In other news, one funny story before I get into today's photo, but.. last night I said to Matt, "Oh man, did you hear the story about the conductor for the New York Philharmagic who had to stop the show because of a ringing cell phone?"

Matt looked at me with a little smile on his face and said, "Wait, what did you just call it?" And I sat there puzzled for a moment until I realized I DEFINITELY said "Philharmagic" and not "Philharmonic".. :rotfl: :lmao: I started laughing really hard, as did Matt, because what a dork I am! Guess I have Disney on the brain, huh?!

I won't be posting tomorrow as we'll be up in the mountains, but I'll be back on Sunday for some catching up and whatnot. I might surf the boards on my iPhone, but no updates on my front until Sunday!

Okay, time for today's photo challenge!

I know, this one is a REALLY hard one but.. umm.. of course it's my partner-in-crime in LIFE, Matt. :) He and I have the BEST time in Disney World and I am so so thankful to have found someone who loves Disney as much as Matt does. When we're there together it makes us both really happy and being able to enjoy attractions the everything Disney as a couple is something very special to both of us, and I feel very happy and lucky that I have Matt in my life. :lovestruc

Glad to hear your day was better! It's never fun having crappy days, seriously.
 Thanks

Sounds good to me! We sometimes get these crazy bursts of energy, so if we're not too pooped from the day and then a delicious dinner, well, we'll be making our way over to MK for some EMH! (I'm sure we'll be pooped though )
I'll be hoping for some energy then. I think it'll just be my little sister and me at EMH that night.

Is lines the one that requires a Touring Plans subscription? I wanted that one, but I don't have a TP membership. :(

You're so lucky! There are a lot of us who wish our BFs/DF/DHs could love the magic like him.

OMG!! You guys are sooo close!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay:

Love that journal!! I took a small book from the dollar store, so hopefully it will help me with our TR.

Have a nice relaxing weekend....:cloud9:
