Seats on new(ish) JetBlue A320s

Last week I flew MCO to SYR on one of the new JetBlue A320s. I had an even-more-space seat (3A), and I was really surprised at how uncomfortable it was. There was zero lumbar support and I got off the plane and my back, which never hurts, hurt like crazy.

Is there a better seat location on this plane? I don't mind paying for the extra space--and there was sufficient legroom--but the back support was nonexistent. I'm 5'4" and I wondered if these seats are designed for taller passengers.

Thanks for any advice.

I frequently fly JetBlue, but probably haven't been on a newer plane since I haven't flown since before the Pandemic started.

On any flight, I take a blanket (throw size), and roll or fold it up and put it behind my lower back. I'm slightly shorter than you, OP.

That's a good idea. I just had never needed it before on JB. Thanks so much for your post!

Nothing to do specifically with airline or aircraft. New plane, and older plans that have been refurbished, have space saver seats. They remove most of the padding. That lets them add extra rows of seats while keeping the same legroom. Airline says most pax find these new, ergonomic, seats comfortable. That means 49% of the pax find them uncomfortable or even painful.

I bought a travel cushion from Amazon. Blanket or even a towel might help

Thank you. Good advice all around. I was unpleasantly surprised on the flight, especially after paying the extra bux for the supposedly better seat. I hate to think what the not-better seats are like.

You weren't paying for better seats. Read the fine print. :) You paid for the same seats but more legroom, priority boarding, fast security etc.

MMint gets you better seats

True enough. I get fast security anyway, since I have TSA Pre. I do like the legroom, although maybe it's not as wonderful as I thought it was/used to be/is. I also wonder about priority boarding. I mean, what's the great shakes about being on the plane even longer before it takes off? Not that the airport is pleasant.

Some pax want early boarding to ensure room for their bin bag.

You paid for extra leg room. The rest of the extras have nominal value

Anyone remember first checked bag free at JetBlue and all the funny on board announcements? Those were the days! I used to love that airline. Flew them all the time. Don’t like what they’ve become.
