Seating for Infant in WDW Restaurants

This may be off topic, but I wasn't sure where else to post this.

We're going to WDW 9/1-9/6 and already have ADRs for every day we'll be there. We have a 2.5 yr old DD and 4 month old DS. DD can sit in a booster seat, but DS will be too young for a high chair. We're trying to avoid bringing his infant seat/carrier, since he'll be pretty hot sitting in it in the stroller. The only place I'll miss it is in the restaurants.

Does anyone know if WDW restaurants have any type of high chair for infants (that reclines). Someone mentioned they thought they saw them on a previous trip, but I haven't heard anything in a while. Any tips or suggestions? I figured I'd just be holding him while I eat, or putting him in the Baby Bjorn.

Most restaurants will not allow stroller in them, and I don't think they have infant chairs, either. I think a pouch sling or a mei tai would be a better carrier than a Bjorn for this type of situation because the Bjorn holds a baby up so high I'd worry about getting food all over his head.

However, this may be a moot point anyway, because your baby could very well be sitting up by the time you go. Both my kids could sit alone at 4 months, and most kids can typically sit alone by 5 months.

Actually I have found most restaurants will accomodate a stroller...look around and you'll see lots of babies sleeping.

Our second DD's first trip was at 4 weeks and she has been going since (now 18 months) I have not seen any other type of specialty high chair for little ones. We simply took in the infant seat.

Can your baby sit up? If so I think you could use a high chair. I know my reg high chair at home came up to their nack at that age but the wooden ones they have at Disney don't have trays or anything.

Maybe things have changed in the last year, I hope so! They wouldn't allow strollers in the restaurants when I went. I'm thinking in particular about Mama Melrose's. My older dd was asleep, and we just had to wait until she woke up because they would not allow the stroller in. I always thought it was a bit silly, especially if the place was almost empty as Mama Melrose's was at the time.

We will have a 3.5 month old with us in January when we go so we will have the same issue. I will not bring the infant car seat because I don't want him in it all day. It isn't healthy for them to be in that position all day long. Bad for the spine and oxygen saturation rates are lower so he will be in the stroller where he can recline flat. (No offense to anyone who brings the infant carriers...we just don't want to fool with it and feel like he will be more comfy out of it. It will be enough dealing with 2 kids, on baby, 2 strollers (1 with a kiddie board on back), daiper bag and camera bag when we need to get on a bus much less to add the infant car seat on top of that!).

I asked a friend who travelled recently to take a look around and let me know if she saw the special infant high chairs. She said she saw them at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Cape May and Kona Cafe. We have brought our stroller in to Mama Melrose, Ohana and Boma on our first trips when DS #2 was still doing the stroller nap thing. I know I have seen others with their strollers in Sci-Fi, Brown Derby, California Grill and Nine Dragons. My friend reported someone having a stroller in Beirgarten as well. We had dinner at Chef Mickey's in a big group and one of the kids fell asleep in the stroller before and they allowed her parents to just move a chair and pull the stroller in to that seating position but it was an umbrella stroller so it was small. We're bringing a larger stroller for baby so he can recline flat and face towards us as well.

We made our ADRs to be at sort of off times so it will hopefully be less crowded. I am hoping that we will be able to use the infant high chairs at most places. If not I'll ask to bring in the stroller. If I can't bring in the larger stroller, we will bring the umbrella style stroller we have for DS #2. I'll also have a sling or front pack carrier with us too and worse comes to worse we will use that (not my favorite option, espcially if I am having something hot to eat or drink but I will do it in a pinch!).

We brought our baby to Disney last Oct and she was 3 months old. We brought the stroller with no porblems into every restaurant no one said no.

A lot of the restaurants have a special high chair for infants, was kinda like an infant seat attached to a highchair base.

Does anyone have any recent advise about taking a infant into restaurants? We have ADR's at Coral Reef, Storybook Princess Breakfast in Norway, Ohanas, Chef Mickey's and Mama Melrose. We leave tomorrow with DD3 and DD3mos and I am deciding if we should take the infant seat at all. As you know they are quite heavy and I would prefer the option of not taking it because then if DD3 gets tired she can go in the stroller and I can sling DD3mos. If the car seat is on it she won't have that option or we'll have to bring a second stroller into the parks. I won't need the car seat on the plane or in the bus to the resort. I just would prefer to not sling her in restaurants so I can actually eat.

Thoughts? Advise?

We went in September '06. Our daughter was 2.5 years and our son was 4 months (couldn't sit up in a regular high chair). We took 2 light-weight strollers (Britax Esprit) and we never had a problem taking the stroller in for our son. They never questioned us about it (we had ADRs each of the 5 days we were there), and we just wheeled him right in. I know some of the places did have the infant highchairs, if that's what you would prefer though. Hope this was helpful!

When we took our grand daughter for her first trip at 6 months, we too were allowed to bring the stroller in on many occassions. We never saw an infant highchair, but she is 22 months now, so things may have changed. If she was sleeping, the stroller was allowed. While at LeCellier she was really fussy and they let us go and get the stroller and bring it in for her. While this isn't the policy, it's best to ask at each place and let them make the decision, especially if it's overly crowded or not. In most cases we had to hold her on our laps while we tried to eat because she was just starting to sit up and wasn't too ready for a standard high chair yet. However, we will be doing it again, because a new GD is arriving this spring and her first trip will be August. Hopefully they will have the new infant highchairs!
