I was hoping to find out how the seating work at Sci Fi. I am traveling with 3 adults 2 kids and 2 infants. It has been so long since we have eaten there, I thought I recalled tables and chairs in the back instead of the car. Two of my girls require high chairs. Can anyone offer some insight?

If I remember right the tables in the back only seat 4. They are able to put high chairs at the end of the car tables.

They have the car style seating but they also have regular tables in chairs in the middle to accommodate large groups and what not

it's not uncommon to have "side cars" at the cars. Your group will fit fine in a 6 seater car

I think the non-car tables at the back can be joined for a party of 8...not positive on that, but I'm pretty sure I recall seeing that on one of my trips. So this may be an option as well.

we had a family of 6 in one car just food has gone downhill from our last two visits wont be going back

we are a group of 6 and don't want to sit in seats of 2 each not facing each other - Can we request seating in the "cars" that have tables so that we would all sit "together"?

IIRC if you are in a car some of the 4 seaters have benches facing each other but not 6 seaters.

Ask for a Town Car....they seat 6 and the seats face each other with a table in the middle. The car is just the front and the rear.

you aren't remembering correctly and there isn't any bench seating at Sci Fi

Maybe the issue is just language but there are bench seats all over the place at Sci-Fi. Most of the cars have them.

When you made your reservation, it will be obvious to the CMs what kind of seating you need. To put your mind at ease, if you do a simple Google search for the restaurant, you will see images that show the variety of seating options.

I often see high chairs sitting right next to the cars and it seems to work well.

There are a small number of "cars" that are actually tables/chairs placed with the car front and rear set like bookends. There are approximately 2 that seat 8 or more, or two parties of 4. I have only seen very large groups seated at these as they can squeeze in more for them here. There are approximately 4 that seat 6 and are very tight, I don't see more than 6 sitting here unless chairs are removed for the highchairs. The "picnic" tables at the back, used mostly for walk-ins, are all one piece tables, bench seats and umbrellas that don't move. The seats are attached, fit one person and there are usually 2 or 4 seats. Have seen a chair pulled up the the 2 seaters.

I would imagine you can request any of these seating situations for your group if willing to wait but if they have larger groups, the very large cars would be going to them first.

In the first picture you can see the large cars with tables (actually two tables split) bottom left and the smaller cars with tables towards the front and center. Second picture shows the smaller cars and in the back the saucer shaped umbrellas over the picnic tables.

Thank you so much for posting this pic! I think we will try this place next visit!

We think it's one of the best themed restaurants at Disney. I suggest sticking to the basics like burgers, sandwiches etc - we found the steaks tough. Love the turtle cheesecake and lots of folks get shakes! :thumbsup2

One trip we had a long convo with a manager. If memory serves me he said that all the scenery on the walls is designed after the view from CA Disney Studios back in the day.

We dined there last May and noticed a different set up for certain cars - some with chairs vs 3 rows of seats. They were placed throughout the restaurant as you can see from the pics I took of the inside. But they seem to be 6 tops.

I agree that Sci Fi Dine In is amazingly themed. Even sticking to the basics though, the food was horrid. But worth trying once for the experience.

Sci-Fi is my favorite restaurant in Disney World! We've had successful food all four times we have been. Get the burgers, fries, and a vanilla milkshake and you will love it! :)

I thought the food was pretty good - we had the burgers and ruebens. Nothing too difficult but I found nothing to complain about.

We ABSOLUTELY loved the theming. It is so nice, dim, and relaxing in there. Kids are all watching the screens and it is blissfully quiet. :cloud9:

Lost count on number of times we have eaten here and other than when we decided to try the steak, we have always had good meals. We do the burger, reuben, sandwich, salad, fries, onion rings and we enjoyed the cucumber salad.
