Disneyworld Vet, planning our 2nd trip to Disneyland (it's been 8 years or so). From what I have read so far it looks like neither show has seating - as someone who can't sit on the ground due to back and knee issues are there any other options? I don't mind paying for a meal or party, but it looks like the ADR's get snapped up pretty quickly and I have no idea what to book anyway :)

We have four days in mid-October so I am going to try and concentrate of the attractions and experiences that are different from WDW so maybe we can pass on Fantasmic. If I can't find something for WOC is there a standing area toward the back, it seems like everyone brings cushions and sits and that isn't an option for me.

TIA

WOC is standing only, no sitting on the ground. If you want seats, you can do the WOC Dessert Party which gets you good seats, drinks and desserts. Fantasmic offers standing behind the first row section or off to the side. (Only the first rows sit on the ground.)

WOC is standing. There is a dessert party that is seating ini chairs, but there is no ground seating, it is all standing areas.

Fantasmic! is quite different from WDW. You can see the second show standing pretty easily. There are many areas where you can stand and see the show without dining reservation. The only dining reservations with a seat is the premium River Belle Terrace dining.

Ok great for some reason I imagined everyone sitting, if there is a standing area where I won't be blocking anyone that works. I have had bad experiences in the past at fireworks or parades in WDW where I have been standing and then everyone in front and behind me sits at last minute and are angry because I don't (can't) sit.

Oh, I definitely wouldn’t pass on Fantasmic. Seeing it where it began is so much better than that huge stadium in Florida. Very up close and personal.

I thought all Fantasmic dining packages sat (on the ground) for the show and that standing was in the non-dining package areas.

Yes, the Fantasmic dining package guests sit on the ground in the front center sections closest to the water. All non-dining-package guests stand in the sections behind them or along the railing on the sides. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.)

At least with the stadium it’s organised chaos as opposed to just plain chaos!

I prefer the WDW version just because it’s organised and everyone gets a seat - no extra money needed.

I just had back and neck surgery earlier this year and have similar issues. I was able to sit in the ADA section for both shows during our trip in August which has benches. Be prepared to get there an hour early though because seating is limited.

ETA: I was able to use the ADA section because I applied and got a DAS pass since I can not stand for long periods of time. You should look into getting one.

Thank you this is helpful as I do have DAS (for other reasons) and did get approved at Disneyland for this trip. At WDW I haven't been able to access the "wheelchair" sections so that is great information to have.
