I've only ever eaten from the first table on the second tier, and I enjoyed that. Out of the way and had a good panoramic view. I noticed a family right up against the glass and they did not look like they were enjoying their meal with all the people standing next to them to take pictures of a tank that can easily be seen from The Seas.
We sat at the banquettes right behind the tables next to the tank. Loved the view!! I agree, if I were sitting right next to the tank, I'd be annoyed by those squeezing in to get a picture!!
I have read many posts from people who had to contend with kids trying to get close to the tank and in doing so 'intruding' on the dining experience of those sitting there. Some of the behavior was quite outrageous and the parents did nothing to intervene.

We have been to Coral Reef 4 times, but only got the tank seat the first trip, this time it was only me and DW,they only go up to parties of four on the floor by the tank but then we didn't ask for any particular seating on but you could ask. Yes there were kids running up to the glass but we expected that, and a skub diver was tapping on the glass and waving to us, and don't forget all of the other tables are tiered and facing the acquarium so everybody is looking your way. So if you want by the tank it isn't a private place but we expected it and didn't mind the kids, the kids that day were polite and the parents were trying to call them back but we said it was ok. We enjoyd the NY strip steak on each visit to Coral Reef, didn't want the fish in the tank starring at us if were were eating one of their friends. The Coral Reef is a must do along with Le Cellier on each trip.
We have eaten here many times, including 3 times right next to the tank. We prefer to sit in the booths on the first tier or the tables or booths on the second tier. Sitting up against the tank means you have a view of about 2 square feet of the tank and it's rather distorted. Plus the tables are close enough together that all of the children whose parents allow them to come up to the tank are banging into your chairs, yelling in excitement, etc. It's not always the case but often enough.
Where you get seated here depends a lot on your party size.
Thank you everyone, for your responses! I think we are going to request a table or booth on the second tier. Which are closer to the tank, the tables or the booths? Will these accommodate a party of 4?
We've eaten at the Coral Reef 4 times and each time we sat by the tank. It is lovely! However, one experience on Memorial weekend it was crowded and children were climbing the wall by the tank next to us. CM's made them get down, but it did get a little crazy! But I love this place and I imagine any seat in there is worth it and wonderful!!!!!

The tables are closer on the second tier, the booths are behind them. We've been seated at the tables twice, as a party of 6, not sure there are any tables for a party of 4. We have been seated in those booths once as a party of 5.
There is not much viewing difference between the two but with the booths you are facing towards the tank; with the tables, you will be facing sideways.
Does anyone have pictures to post of what it's like inside. We will be a family of 10 going. Any recommendations of what is good to eat would also be helpful. Thanks.
