I noticed just recently something i wasn't aware of about rate season changes.
I booked a trip with Disney Travel in February for my vacation that starts on November 25th this year. We'll be staying 7 nights.
Rates change from regular season to value season on November 26th, one night after we check in. The difference is $20 less per night in a value resort, and over $40 at the deluxes.
I thought that I'd be paying the regular season rate for my first night and the value rate would apply for the next 6 nights beginning 11/26.
After a closer check of my vacation package documents I find that that is not the case.
Disney charges the rate in effect at checkin for the entire length of stay even if the season changes during your vacation.I'm not upset about it now, but aware of something I did'nt know when I booked the trip. Had I known, I would probably have planned to check in Sunday 11/26 instead of Saturday 11/25 and could have saved $120. That could have gone for a nice table service meal !
Just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone planning a trip to check season dates before you do.

Anyone else find this to be true from experiance?

Yes, this has been the way it's done for as long as I can remember. The upside is, if you check in at the end of value season, you get value price for the days you have in regular season too. Sorry you missed out though!

you can do it as two seperate ressies. Do the first night for one night, then switch to a new ressie for the remainder & you will get the discount.

We do 2 different ressies. We go Dec 31-Jan 6 so we only pay holiday rate for 1 night and then Value for the rest of the trip.

Did you book room only or a package? If you booked room only then you can change your ressie until 5 days before your check-in.

I booked everything together through the Disney website back in February for our trip in November. We decided to drive down from Atlanta this year, instead of flying as we have in the past and renting a car for the week. Our package includes 7 nights at All Star Music, 7 Day Magic Your Way passes with Dining Plan, park hopping option, and water parks and more option.
We used the savings from the flight portion for tickets to MVMCP and front row seats to La Nouba.

I'll know better in the future to check closer for the rate change dates. The policy is clearly stated in their online information, I just missed it in the hurry to book another trip.

And thanks guys for the tips. Just when you think you know it all, you learn something new :thumbsup2

I understand that, I did it last year booked threw AAA and no one told us, we didn't realize it until we got to check out bill. AAA ended up having to refund it, because their website said it would go down after the first day.

BF and I are driving down this year, we live in Atlanta. My dad and I flew over the summer and it's a fun drive. It goes quickly, except for the constuction on 75 south that's been going on for 5-10 years(it always looks the same)

I also ran into this problem. I wanted to book 5 nights starting December 31st. Because high season ends on the December 31st all 5 nights would be at the high season rate. I ended up booking through travelocity which gave me the value season rate on January 1, 2, 3, & 4th.
