I have family who live in Florida and buy seasonal passes, since most of our family get togethers are during off seasons anyway. I think it would be just ducky if Disney would offer the seasonal passes for DVC owners, too! I like the AP discount, but seasonal pass would be better for us most years.
What do you think, has Disney or will Disney offer seasonal passes for us?
Lori

Timeshare (DVC) owners are not considered to be legal Florida residents hence are not eligible for FL Resident discounts.

I also have family in Florida. We just buy our AP's each year, but with the DVC Discount!

Ditto here. WE make at least two trips on each 1 year of Annual passes so it is more than worth it. We are getting three trips out of our passes this yeat. :cool1:

I would love it if they had seasonal APs.
And an 'after 4' annual pass for Epcot would be fabulous!

It's not really a resident issue but rather what Disney decides to offer. The resident issue is simply their way to draw the line at the present time. They could decide to offer Seasonal passes to members if they wanted without any change to the residency rules and could do so without opening it up to other timeshare owners if they made it a DVC perk. Disney doesn't want to give up the extra income. Personally I think it'd be good for them overall as it would likely somewhat shift member usage to lower demand times.

I would love the Epcot After 4 Pass... My uncle lives in Ocala and gets this every year... Epcot is our favoite park and we'd totally get this...

Plus for seasonal passes, you can't beat the price...

When we signed our DVC Contracts they state we will not be considered legal Florida Residents.

If Disney opened up their FL Resident discounts to DVC owners, that would cover a wide range including not only the Seasonal Passes, but FL Resident resort discounts, the Disney Cruise Line FL Resident discounts, etc.

I don't see them classifying DVC that way, but as Dean stated, they could decide to offer more DVC perks including additional discounted passes such as Seasonal ones. However, it took quite a while for the DVC AP discount to become available, so I don't see this happening any time soon.

I never see it happening at all... Mostly because of the increase in numbers of membership, especially over the next few years if the Contemporary rumors are true.

I'm not asking them to de-classify DVC members.:sad2:
I would just like some more alternatives to park admission!:thumbsup2

Well, I wasn't wanting them to classify DVC owners as FL residents. That would be silly. I just would like them to add Seasonal Pass as a DVC perk. But with the success of DVC sales right now, I agree that it most likely won't happen anytime soon. But I can still dream!!!

Since the Seasonal Pass is actually Florida Resident Seasonal Pass, they won't make it available to DVC members under that criteria. They would have to offer a discount on a similar type of program. As it's been stated, probably not going to happen since they now offer the AP's with a DVC discount.

For now, can't we people who don't live in reality just dream :rotfl2: ?

Me, too! And I'm going to call my guide. I had an idea for DVC once and he told me to call him whenever I had more. We had a little trouble on our latest trip and I received a phone call from a members manager (don't remember what they really call them), his name was Mike and he gave me his direct number "in case I ever need anything while in WDW". He mentioned specific examples like dining reservations some place I couldn't get in, but it wouldn't hurt to call and suggest seasonal passes. They probably hear it all the time, but one more time won't hurt!

Remember when the tickets were free? We missed that by several years. Then the discount was 10% for length of stay. Now the discount is the roughly $100 off the AP similar to the Florida resident rate. Next it could be an after 4 ticket or a seasonal pass
Well......I'm sure many miss free, sometimes I miss the 10% because I controlled when I bought them, the annual renewals are nice but keep you buying every year to keep the better renewal discount.
The mouse is very good at separating cash from wallets.....$15 a point to extend for 15 years when surely I'll be dead, that's classic.
Some executive is no doubt thinking right now how to offer these tickets as a "perc" for DVC members in order to increase divedends for the shareholders.

Jaded I may be but I love our DVC.

Since this last hike in AP prices, even with the $100 discount it is not a good deal (to me anyway). They will have to do more than that to keep me in the parks daily. But we are happy to just go in a few days. We were there for 7 days a couple of weeks ago and only went into Epcot 1 day and did the MNSSHP one evening. Either way is fine with us. We tend to spend less $$ when we stay out of the parks.

The only time we did the renewal AP was when it was a voucher. With the new rules, the renewal is not that great a savings, unless you go there all the time (which we don't).

I love my DVC also, but it is getting too expensive to enter the parks! YMMV :thumbsup2
