we leave June 14th till June 25th.

My pass expires June 18th.

1. Since I have a room reservation I can make my fast passes for whole length of stay right?

2. How do I handle my renewal. I assumexwhwn I renew it starts the very next day June 19th?

3. On the 19th do I need to go to guest services before the park to do the whole id thing again?

4. If I have to do the id thing again can I do it on my first day of trip even though pass doesn’t start yet.

5. Finally if I renew earlier the pass doesn’t start earlier right? If a renewal it starts day 1 of expire date of the 19th right?

Thanks!

Jimi

You can renew the AP beginning 60 days before the expiration date of your existing AP by calling Member Services. You do not get the actual renewal passes, that always begin the same day as the expiration of the old pass regardless of when you purchase the renewal, until you get to Disney and go to a ticket booth or guest services at the park, because they will need to see your DVC member card (to prove you are still a member) and a photo ID for all adults getting a renewed pass (to prove all are still from the same address as the member). However, you get a purchase number when you purchase that you can put into My Disney Experience and use it to make fast-pass reservations 60 days out for the days that begin with your renewal pass.

Nevertheless, you will not be able to get fast-passes for the time from June 19 through June 25 until 60 days out from June 18 because you cannot purchase the the renwal AP that covers those days until 60 days before June 18, and thus you will have no ticket that gives you access to fastpasses for June 19 or after until you purchase the renewal pass at 60 days before date of expiration of the old pass.

ok that's what disney said too, but i called the vip pass member number tonight. they told me they put a note in my account for me to call a few days before my 60 day window for fast passes and they will put "keycards" in my app so it thinks i have tickets for those days so i can make fast passes. i never heard this. the lady said it is something they can do for pass holders in this kinda situation.

anyone hear of this. this is news to me.

thanks for the info. all makes good sense.

That is definitely news to me and good for AP holders if it can actually be done. If that is something that can be done, it should have been publicized or instead they should just fix the real problem — because FP+ begins 60 days before arrival date, they should just move the first date you can purchase a renewal AP to about 70 days before date of arrival.

i guess i'll find out when it gets closer. they said call a few days before my FP 6 0 day window.

she read me back what she wrote in my account so we will see. i'm skeptical. lol

We have two reservations in December, the first segment using our points and the 2nd segment using my DSIL's points. We were able to make FPs reservations at the 60 days mark for the first check day of November 27 through the day our AP expired on 12/8 despite the fact that that our second reservation begins 12/7. However, we couldn't renew our AP until today 10/10 which is the 60 day mark.

We did call a couple of days ago and they didn't offer us anything like a keycard to fake tickets, just said we had to wait until the 60 day mark and renew at 9:00 am EDT by phone. We tried to get FPs before 9:00 am but the dates were grayed out starting with 12/9. Also we were blocked from get Flight of Passage FPs for this second segment because they were all gone. But we did get FOP FPs during the first segment.:yay: We were really happy getting a 13 month AP a couple of years ago but it has been causing havoc ever since.

I have read more than once here on the DIS of people in your situation being allowed to renew their APs a few days earlier than 60 in order to book FPs at 60 days. So I would call the renewal line a few days before your 60-day window opens. They should be able to see your onsite reservation, and hopefully you’ll be able to buy your renewal.

I wish the would be consistent as they didn't give us a break.

thanks for the other updates. i'm going to call 3-4 days before my 60 day fp window and see. she did say about the keycards. said the vip ap line people were the ones who were allowed to do it. she said make sure i use that number again.

I don't know the number but I have been able to renew my AP before the 60 day period. The first CM I spoke with said that it wasn't possible, I had her escalate me to a supervisor who said that this was something that they commonly did and she completed the process quickly. I sent an email to WDW guest communications regarding the situation with the first CM (she was also very rude on the phone) and the person who called me back said that the second CM supervisor was correct and was something that they have to do quite often, obviously nothing has changed since this was a couple years ago. Not sure why they don't just make the renewal window earlier, seems like an easy fix.
