My family and I are going for three days Christmas week. We are "planning" on going back sometime in 2014 with friends.

My family consist of me, my husband and our 14y daughter.

I will definitely be buying at least one season pass for the hotel discount alone makes it worth it.

Question?? Should I buy my husband and daughter a season pass too or just two three day tickets?

To buy them just tickets would save me over $300 right now but then IF (we really plan on going) we go again in 2014 I'll have to buy them tickets again.........

Oh, this is our first time going to Universal, we've always went to Disney.

Also I'm a huge HP fan, I'm sooo excited to finally go!!

What would you do and why??

I meant to ask this in the Universal forum not the hotel forum......

See, I need help::yes::

i hope you are staying onsite since you are going during the christmas period.

it will be crowded but you will have the early entry and use of the express lines, unlimited usage........

i know nothing about the seasonal passes.
i have the preferred annual pass.
first bought it in 03 and have renewed it yearly ever since.

with that pass you get 10% discounts off of food and merch in the parks and city walk.
hotel room discounts also are great with the ap.

only one in the group needs the preferred or premier annual pass for the hotel discounts.
the others could get the power pass which is valid for park admission.
but, check out the black out dates for them.

ap are valid for one year and a day from the time of first usage.

You could just buy the tickets and then upgrade once you are there. The annual passes aren't any cheaper online than they are at the parks.

Another thing you might not know is that annual pass renewals are hugely discounted. I think the preferred pass is $179 when you renew.

I assume you already know that your dates have a discount with the AP. If so, get that one AP. Then get tickets for the rest of the family but budget to uprade. If you feel that you love it enough to make the 2014 plans solid, upgrade.

FWIW we got just what I described, except we had no clue how much we would love the place. Had budgeted to upgrade at WDW, and did so, only to discover at the end of our trip that we were mad for Universal, too. Went back inside of the year, and had to pay for new tickets for hubby and son. It was annoying, but I suppose worse things could happen.

We have Preferred APs now, like Macraven. To renew them is about the cost of a 4 day ticket at this point, so it's definitely worth it. :)
