We went to Sears today, fully intending to buy a dishwasher. I picked the one I wanted and asked if they could do bertter on the price. She said no, it was already on sale. So, I whipped out my blackberry and wanted to be sure it was the best deal around. She asked what I was doing. I told her and she said, well let me look at Lowes right here on the computer.

Lowes had it for 30 dollars cheaper. She said they could match that price. My husband is in the Navy and Lowes gives military a 10% discount.

I asked if they would match the price and give us the 10% we would get at Lowes. She said they couldn't do it. So I left and went and purchased it at Lowess.

I would have thought they would bend over backwards to make a sale, they knew I was about to go to Lowes? We went to Lowes and we will put it in tomorrow!

:confused3

Thank you for your support of my family's income. Lowes is the reason we are going to Disneyworld. Wifey works there and we would still be digging a deeper hole if it wasn't for her secondary income :thumbsup2

I hate Sears. I hate, hate, hate them. So much that I refuse to ever buy another appliance from them again.

We bought a fridge from them several years ago and they kept pushing back the delivery date. When it got to the point that they had pushed it back 3 weeks (thank goodness we have a full fridge in the family room)I told them to refund my money and I would buy elsewhere. Lo and behold, they were able to deliver the next day.

...as if I hadn't learned. I called service to come look at our washing machine (a Kenmore) They scheduled a service appointment which would cost me $75 to just look at the d*mn thing. Mind you, I work nights so I half slept on the most uncomfortable couch in the living room so I didn't miss the repairman. He never showed up. No call, just didn't show. I called and went crazy on the service department manager who rescheduled him for the next day. Again, no call no show! I ended up getting an independent repairman to fix it.

...now on to Lowes. I bought a stove for our rental property. They brought it, plunked it down in the middle of living room and said they couldn't install it because they didn't "have the right equipment." Not to mention they muddied up the new carpet.

i won't buy from sears again either.

black friday '08 they had a deal on the sears brand front loader washer/dryer set for $499. great deal! we ordered and they said it would be early jan.

i was due on 12/15 and with no dryer i was desperately trying to figure out how i was going to cope with our clothes, plus a new baby and his clothes.

we got a letter from sears saying that over 200,000, yes...200K people ordered this set and it would be early feb now.

another letter came a week later...early march.

we finally got our washer/dryer in late march '09 and when we got it home, they didn't tell us we needed to buy the cord for the dryer.

i went ape cr@p on them and they gave me the cord for free....but they wanted to charge me for it and i went further ape cr@p on them.

just bought a dishwasher at best buy. they lowered the price. we paid for install, but now we have to go buy the install kit. ***. so not happy with them now either.

Not a flame but I was wondering why you didn't go to Lowes in the first place with your extra discount. Next time, you can save time and money by just going there, eh?

I will never buy another appliance from Sears ever again - HATE THEM!!!! We purchased a Kenmore front load washer February 2008. By July it wasn't working - took them a month to try to fix it. They couldn't do it. We had to threaten lawyer, lawsuit, etc. to get a new washer. Their delivery person stated they don't guarantee their products to work, this was said when they replaced our washer finally in August 2008. I will never buy from them again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are 5 of us in the household. They wanted us to rent from a rentacenter. They wanted a $500 deposit and it was over $100 for a month rental - I didn't have that kind of money to dish out to rent. It was the biggest pain in the behind. Next time we will go back to our local appliance center - family owned. We will never use the big stores again.

We will not buy from Sears again. They sell itme that they do no have in stock and then charge a del charge. The item almost never is del when they say it will be. No more Sears for me!!

We ordered a TV from Sears. They confirmed the delivery date 4 times, both by phone and on-line. You guessed it, they never showed. My DH called the delivery number and they said they didn't even have it in stock, had no idea when it would come.

The delivery people couldn't cancel the order, so I called my credit card, explained, and the charge was removed the next day. I guess Chase must have heard the same story about Sears quite a few times.

I had the same problem with Sears... it took forever for them to deliver my new fridge. When it came in it had a small dent in the side. They said they would take it away and get me a new one within a week, I'm like are you crazy, it took you 6 weeks to deliver this one. They ended up giving me a credit but so not worth the agrivation. Then the delivery guy said I would be contacted in a few days to do a survey on the delivery and if I wouldn't mind say they did a great job. I didn't have a problem with the delivery men, it is the process before that which is the problem.

Let me tell you about the time we ordered a washer / dryer set - delivery truck came with TWO DRYERS and no washer! :confused3

yeah, we don't buy from Sears anymore either.

Hmmm, I think I'd better send a link to this thread to my brother -- he's pretty high up in Sears management.

Isn't Sears running a commercial that shows a bunch of men hanging out there while Sears is finding them the best price? If they had Lowes in their computer, and they're running that commercial, why did they make the OP ask for it?

I ask this question very seriously. I generally buy my appliances from Sears, and it doesn't sound like they were playing fair with the OP.

Please do! And also send him the link about the credit cards and how they have increased their rates through the roof! 26 years as a Sears customer and I cancelled my account on that one adn will shop strictly at my Lowe's which treats me like a queen! Our score is very very high so there was no reason for it and we got no help.

And echoing the person who had a service call scheduled.....I called about my Mom's less than 3 year old dryer and they wanted $75 for the call and $125 to replace the thermostat which I knew all along was the problem. If I had had the proper tools I could have fixed it myself (I was on vaca at her home in Florida). Instead, I went to Lowe's and bought her a brand new one that they delivered on time the next day and gave me a truly great deal on!!!! Why pay Sears $200 to repair a $350 dryer and still be stuck with their product? And for what it is worth, a therm should not burn out on a 3 year old dryer in a one person household like that.....just crappy CS on their part.

No sears for me either. they wanted $75 to deliver and haul away the old. they said i could send in a rebate to get it back, but why not just offer free delivery and haul away like home depot and lowes?
plus home depot matched an online price that was over $100 cheaper than their price :thumbsup2
lowes will match too

I bought my appliances ar Sears because I had researched the best price ahead of time and they were running 'match the lowest price plus an extra 10% off if we don't have the lowest price' sale. The salesperson did offer to look up prices at other stores. So I got the best price, but there was a problem with the installation of all of the appliances and some of the appliances were damaged and the installer never said a word :confused3 These were not dent and scratch appliances. The worst was the dishwasher. A pipe came loose and flooded water all inside the cabinet under the sink the first time a full load was run in the diswasher, and the inside back of the stainless steel dishwasher was all crumpled up :scared1: I only noticed a few days later sitting across the room looking in the open dishwasher. The dishwasher was a little over $1000. I did get a another new dishwasher from Sears but I was furious. I won't get into the fridge, range or microwave, but they each had issues also.

Wow, I've had really good Sears experiences this year. (my only two Sears experiences ever)

Just as a side note- Dented appliances, no-shows, most reschedulings and bringing the wrong items are issues with the installer. They are outside contractors which is why you get the survey. If something like that is wrong and you give them a good survey review, you are only furthering the problem because it is their fault and not Sears.

It doesn't matter where you get an appliance, you need to get the install kit if you aren't 100% sure your old appliance had the exact same parts. That is the same at any store.

I hope things go better for everybody next time you get appliances, wherever you get them from.

It sounds like Sears has went downhill after Kmart took them over

Actually Sears bought KMart, KMart didn't buy Sears. We have all Kenmore appliances and have had terrific service, no problems whatsoever. HHGregg around here is the one I hear complaints about.
