:goodvibes Hello ... we are looking for a new digital camera. My Kodak Easyshare isn't working as well as it used to (it is about three or four years old). It has been a good camera though. Anyways, I would like to step up a bit and get one with a higher zoom, etc. I was wondering if anyone knows of a website that provides good reviews, etc of cameras. I remember visiting one when I was searching for the Kodak and it was helpful. I haven't a clue what that website was though :confused3

Any help or suggestions on your great cameras would be very helpful. I love to take pictures and scrapbook, so good photos are important to me :thumbsup2

Thank so much ...

Kerri

Have you tried asking this on the Photography board, they are a wealth of information over there. I too had to buy a new camera my digital just wasn't taking pictures the way it use to. I love to take pictures and always wanted to have a DSLR but was really unsure whether to take that step, or stay with a point and shoot camera. After asking some questions and reading alot of the threads over there, I ended up getting the Canon XTI and I love it. Those folks there know their photography, plus they know which websites to browse.

I have the S5 IS since last Sept and I love it:thumbsup2 The zoom is awsome.I also scrapbook :cool1:

Our EasyShare is driving me crazy! Even after sitting on the dock for days, it will only work for awhile before it won't turn on. We bought new batteries for it, and then discovered that it has those weird wrapped batteries inside. It still wouldn't work well.

DH thinks it is the lens window that opens up when it prepares to take a photo. I hate this camera! We have had to start carrying around a disposable one as backup in case we are ready for that amazing photo and the camera won't turn on!!

Good luck in your quest for a new camera - I can't wait to ditch this one myself.

We have the 2 yr old version of this one http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10089228&catid=
the canon power shot s5 1S - while ours was being fixed at Cmas we actually got this one as a loaner and seriously considered keeping it. Took a great picture!

I agree, totally! We have the canon S3 IS....it is the best darn camera ever!!! You can check things out on the photography board, there is a whole thread on the Canon S3, S5 IS

You can try this website www.dpreview.com. They have a lot of info on most digital camera on the market. Unless you go to DSLR, you will limit on the amount of zoom the camera has. I have a Nikon D200 with a 28-200 lens and it works awesome. One draw back is it is a pain (too heavy and bulky) to haul around the park.

I also have the Canon S5 IS and love the zoom...

however if you are looking for a slightly smaller camera check out Sony's DSC-H3 as previous poster mentioned.....

I just bought it on the shopping channel for my DD 's birthday in May so I can't tell you much about it except it looks great, nice bit smaller than mine and gets good reviews.

Check out www.steves-digicams.com and I also like the dpreview site someone already mentioned.

I've been looking at the Panasonic TZ (Travel Zoom) cameras for a while now. It's more "pocket-able" than the Canon S series, but still has 10x zoom. It's lens is more wide angle than most compact cameras, but still has decent reach. There is some question as to it's picture quality in low light, though.

There is a review here.
