Searacer Boats

We are thinking of renting a two seater during our trip - hubby will drive and 7 year old son would ride along. My understanding is that these are fun, speedy little "wave rider" type boats and they can be rented from several resort marinas.

My question: is there a difference in what resort marina you rent from and what body of water you have access to?

For example, would it be more fun to rent from a marina that is on the 7 Seas Lagoon - from maps it looks like this is a large body of water that would be fun to ride in. We are staying at the POR Riverside and from maps it looks like the waterways there are more like rivers and may not be as fun to use searacers on.

:flower3: Any input appreciated!

You are pretty much correct in your thinking. Resorts on 7 Seas Lagoon have a lot more open space. These would include Poly, GF, CR, WL and FW. You can also go between Bay Lake and 7 Seas Lagoon over the water bridge near CR. POR and POFQ are on the river and while you could get to the lake at Downtown Disney that is a bit of a trip to get to. The Sassagoula River does not have access to 7 Seas Lagoon.

We once had a regular flotilla of them driving around together with my sister, BIL, niece and nephew.

All the resorts at Seven seas and Bay Lake : Poly, GF, WL, Ft.W, and Cont all have boats for rent. They have the most area but also have the most traffic (other boats). The place to really rent sea raycers as the engines are not governed and thus go somewhat faster.

You can rent boats at any of the Sassagoula Region resorts and at Downtown Disney; POR, OKW. Part lake, part river system. (I would choose a pontoon here for a nice quite river trip)

CSR and CBR both have their own small bodies of water with rentals.

And finally YBC has rentals on Cresent Lake.

Thanks for the prompt reply Mr. Pig. I didn't realize he could travel to that far from POR! We have a voucher that gives 90 minutes for the price of 60. Would that be enough time to do the POR to DTD lake roundtrip? That would be more convienient that trying to get to on of the 7 seas lagoon resorts since we are staying at the POR - plus we wouldn't have a car so would need to rely on buses, etc. to get from POR to another resort which looks like it could be timeconsuming.
Visually, it sounds like the 7 seas would have more to offer....is that where you rode?
Lastly, can you only rent during daytime hours?

Yes only during daytime hours.

We have rented on every body of water they allow and this last trip we did the CR and it was just amazing going and being so close to MK and the castle and Space mountian. The ride around Discovery island and the old RC is really neat as well.

The best plans would try to fit it in on a MK day . You could do an ADR at one of the resorts on the monorail and then rent the boats and go back to MK for the night.

We rented from FW and loved being in this area. We went over the "water bridge" to 7 Seas Lagoon near the MK, Poly and the GF. It was amazing, but busy.
I haven't rented at other areas, but I think I would go back here if I were to rent in the future.

90 minutes is more than enough time to do a round trip from POR to DTD... it usually takes 60 minutes. The extra 30 will allow you to go down river to OKW.

Thanks everyone for the valuable input!
I'mNoPrince suggested doing the boats on the same day as visiting MK...I hadn't even thought of that . . . I just figured we'd get wet so would have to be in bathing suits and need to change at out hotel (POR) :-)

You may get a bit of spray if there is a lot of boat traffic but other then that you should stay dry

I believe they only seat one or two people. One adult could only bring one kid. Do a search and you'll find pictures of the boats. They are around $29 per 30 minutes. You can rent pontoon boats which would hold 3 or more.
